Woolly bear caterpillars—also called woolly worms—have a reputation for being able to forecast the coming winter weather. But how? And just how true is this weather lore? 🐛

According to legend, if their rusty band is wide, then it will be a mild winter. The narrower the rusty band, the more severe the winter ❄️

TONIGHT! 🌕️ Rising low on the horizon, September's Full Harvest Moon will appear bigger, brighter, and more golden than any other Moon this year, casting long light across autumn fields and evening skies.

The Harvest Moon is the full Moon closest to the autumnal equinox (September 22 or 23). Unlike other full Moons, it rises about the same time for several nights, providing extended evening light. Historically, this extra illumination helped farmers complete their harvests before fall frosts.

This year, it'll reach peak illumination at 12:49 p.m. ET today, but it will be below the horizon at this time. Be sure to watch for it after sunset… it will be hard to miss!
