I went to two different Tractor Supply stores today and didn’t by any new chicks. Doesn’t that qualify me for sainthood or something?

The internet has opened up so many amazing possibilities, but I can't help but wonder if they are worth the ugliness that social media has brought out in people.

I understand that some people receive medications via the postal service, but none of my medication is worth a postal worker's life. Even if I feel upset about mail not being delivered, it doesn't mean I need to be ugly about it.

Our road crews have been out working in this terrible cold, and I appreciate all their effort even if they can't clear every road in the county.

Some like to complain every time schools are closed because of the weather. Our director of schools isn't perfect, but I understand wanting to keep children safe. I might believe closure isn't warranted, but I wouldn't be the one parents hold responsible if the worst things happen.

I know this weather is trying for many reasons and being shut in means everyone spends more time online, but can't we all be nicer.

It may momentarily feel good to vent and rant, but I know from experience that it is usually not a good look for the person doing it.

Dear Customer,

This is a letter that I hate writing and I am confident that you do not want to receive. I am sure that you have noticed that prices are rising everywhere. We strive to provide a premium product at the most affordable rate we can. The costs of our operation have continued to escalate, and we have now been hit with labor demands. We received notice from F.L.O.C.K. (Fraternal and Loyal Order of Chicken Kind) that unless management agrees to provide adequate sustenance for the workers, they will go on strike. They will refuse to produce the wonderful eggs our beautiful customers (like yourself) enjoy so much. Due to these labor demands and the rising expense of meeting these demands, we at Godsong Farms are forced to raise our prices. Starting February 1, 2023, our price will increase to $4.00 per dozen. We in management feel that this price is fair to our customers and workforce alike. We hope that you will continue to turn to us for all your egg needs, but if you decide to make your purchases elsewhere, we will harbor no ill will. We may say “ill will” a few more times for the fun of it, but we will not harbor it. We do not even have a boat. We are a chicken farm not a catfish farm. I hope that if our price increase is a bit painful that the ridiculousness of this letter puts a smile on your face for a second or two.

Sincerely,

John C Gottlied III

Godsong Farms - Responsible and Ethical Farming Practices

At Godsong Farms we practice responsible and ethical farming. We use regenerative, sustainable, and natural methods while avoiding chemicals, steroids, antibiotics, and genetic manipulation. We believe that these practices produce healthier, tastier food. Our farm is not government certified but is open to public inspection. We believe that you visiting our farm are a better judge of our processes than some government bureaucrat reading submitted forms in his office. We are responsible to you our customer, not some faceless government agency. We produce food you can be confident and proud to eat.
