Dear Friends, Neighbors, and Customers,

We hope all of you are well and gearing up for the spring season! About this time each year you’d be reading our annual announcement of our opening day for the season. However, this year we are providing you all with an important update on the farm.

These past few years we have faced an incredible amount of obstacles from losing a large percentage of our agricultural space, a challenging economic environment, and health related concerns. This winter, more than others in the past, has allowed us time to process and reflect on where we have been and where we are going.

Our pride has always been in being a family farm and have successfully taken care of this property and business for 50 years, but we have always taken care of each other as a family first. After much discussion, we have made the difficult decision to take this year off.

This may be sad news for many of you in the community who have come to expect the opening day of Meadowbrook synonymous with the spring season and new beginnings. This is indeed sad and uncomfortable for us as well but a necessary step in sustaining our integrity and livelihoods.

We want to be clear - we are not going anywhere and our focus is still on maintaining our property as an agricultural resource for the community. Taking this year to properly plan and rethink where we are at and where we are going is critical for our future success.

For those of you concerned about the project at 133 Essex St., we are still engaged in this fight and stand by our past comments at town meetings.

We will miss your smiling faces this spring, but please know that our gratitude and appreciation for all of you continues as we move through this challenging time.

With all our love,
The Vandi Family
