I know our strawberries are excellent, the sweetest I've ever had, but Jason proved it yesterday by brixing* a whole bunch of them.
He said they were all between 11 and 16. 11 is above average and most were 12-16 which is excellent indeed! Many of them are a little smaller but I think the tiny ones tastes the best, it's like eating a pop of jam! They got a little watered down in the rainy spell but are back to being as sweet as can be.
And to top it off, we don't use sprays! No fungicide, herbicide or insecticide!! Ours don't belong in the dirty dozen, unless you're talking about actual dirt😏
We are thankful for this later variety that survived the freeze. Our earlier batch was meager but these are plentiful. Thank You Lord!
Come pick today, Thursday, 2-5
*Brix is a scientific measurement that indicates the percentage of Total Soluble Solids (TSS) dissolved in a liquid. In fruit, these dissolved solids are mostly sugars, so a Brix reading essentially approximates the sugar content and sweetness of the fruit's juice. For example, a reading of 15° Brix means the juice is approximately 15% sugar by weight.
