…. and the squash harvest for year is (almost) in!

There’s a lot more to squash flavors than butternut and acorn.

Squash isn’t only for roasting or mashing. (skip the marshmallows and brown sugar please)

Many types of squashes can be roasted and substituted for canned pumpkin in desserts: pies, custards, bars, breads, ice creams, etc. Each one has their own flavor profile and texture. Hungry yet?

It’s hard to beat simple cubed and roasted squash as a side or on a salad with delicata being our personal favorite variety.

Or for the squash fanatics, opt for a creamy and smooth soup. Many cultures from around the world have their own versions for squash soup that usually call for specific varieties of squash and spices.

Try a new to you squash this fall season, and let us know what you did with it!

Janna is in Sioux Center today. More than 20 years ago, she used the term “The Cornucopia” because it’s a “Horn of Plenty” just like her first favorite grocery store. Today the word abundance comes to mind. Center Mall parking lot till noon!

Orders can be picked-up at The Cornucopia on Wednesday evenings from 4 to 6 pm.
