Our Beginning
After listening to our Pastor Jim Wheeler speak one Sunday morning about "your calling". A few weeks earlier, our youth leader and some youth went to Tennessee to help the homeless. Seeing the pictures of people getting food really touched me, and made me realized that we have people right here in our own community, your neighbor, your coworker even our own families, that has to chos
e between spending money on food, on bills or even on medicine for the month during this economic downturn that we are in. I have been wanting to, let me rephrase that, God has been wanting me to answer "my calling" and setup a mobile food pantry for our communities in the area. For I know the plans I have for you, "declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future" Jeremiah 29:11
You might ask, what is a mobile food pantry? It helps communities address the hunger problem with the easiest, most effective and cost efficient way by simply given the needy available food. We have an area food bank called West Ohio Food Bank, located in Lima, Ohio. They are part of the Feeding America network and they serve an 11 county area which includes Shelby County. They will deliver anywhere from 5000-10000 pounds of food to our location. For 2 hours, our church will distribute groceries to the needy in our communities. It is a sad fact, but a true fact that we have families that are struggling in all walks of life. It's not what you thought it was in the old days- people who are chronically unemployed and homeless. Now it's people who are good, hardworking individuals who just have had a run of luck in which they lost their jobs, can't find a job, or they're even underemployed, or they are furloughed and they need the support and outreach that we can give them.
