Wisconsin Bison Co.

Wisconsin Bison Co. We started out raising bison in 1986 when we purchased 6 animals from Colorado. Today, we have around 125 bison and take a lot of pride in selling quality meat.

All of our bison products are sold frozen on a per pound basis, and are in clear cryovac packages. We recommend calling before you come. (Just to make sure someone is around to help you.) The meat is sold in a store at the house. Stop in and ring the doorbell. We only accept cash or check. Bison meat is similar to beef in taste, but leaner and healthier for you. You may find our meat at local groc

ery and specialty meat stores and restaurants. All our bison products are 100% bison and free from antibiotics and hormones. The bison are brought to either Maplewood Meats or Beck's meat for butchering.

An upcoming U.S. postage stamp will pay homage to the bison — the United States' national mammal and one of the most iconic wildlife species at Yellowstone National Park.

The new stamp features an image of a modern Yellowstone bison taken by wildlife photographer Tom Murphy, superimposed by a historic image of a bison featured in a stamp created in 1923.

The stamp was designed by Greg Breeding, who has served as the art director of postage stamp design since 2012, according to the U.S. Postal Service. https://abcnews.visitlink.me/G7PMzL

~TEACHABLE TUESDAY~
Can anyone guess how many bison producers there are in the United States? We'll wait...🦬➕🤠🟰❓

Using the most recent Census of Ag and U.S. Census numbers, we can figure there are approximately 340,000,000 people in the United States. Farmers make up less than 2% of the total population. Bison ranchers make up 0.0001% of the population (approximately 3,400).

All our talk about growing the herd is true for both bison and ranchers!! As we prepare to celebrate National Ag Day on March 18, let's celebrate our bison stewards entrusted with caring for our National Mammal. 🦬

We do NOT have set hours. We recommend calling ahead at 920-833-7474 or message us on here if you’re making a special trip. We are a very active family farm and not always able to have someone around for the store, especially during harvest time. Sorry for any confusion.

Happy national bison day!
