Have you heard about our goat Charlie?

A couple of years ago, Mary wrote a children’s book based on true events around our goat named Charlie.

Our dear friend in Texas, Nola, needed to use a book for her third grade project. Decorate a pumpkin around a character in a book!

We just received these amazing photos of Nola finishing her project and taking it to school! So of course, we FaceTimed her after she got out of school with Charlie herself!

If you’ve ever thought to yourself, I have this little idea, I wonder how it would be received? We are daily proof around here that little ideas, turn into sweet connections. The world needs more sacred moments like this.

Yesterday, Greg and I had the pleasure of attending an open house BBQ at Stemple Creek Ranch in Tomales.

We’ve followed their story for years, and watching them featured on Ranch America years ago gave us an even greater appreciation for their commitment to sustainable ranching, responsible land stewardship, and raising happy, healthy animals. So, when this opportunity arose, we couldn’t pass it.

As we continue building and developing Ole Red and our own little farm, we find so much inspiration in the generations of farmers and ranchers who came before us.

Supporting local ranchers isn’t just about buying meat. It’s about preserving a way of life and protecting our ability to choose where our food comes from.

The cattle industry is struggling, and the answer isn’t simply telling ranchers to lower their prices. Responsible ranching comes at a cost. If we want these practices to survive, we have to support the people doing the work.

We’re fortunate to live in a region where we can know our ranchers, ask questions, and purchase food raised right here in our own backyard.

Lisa and Loren were incredibly gracious, welcoming, and generous with their time. I encourage everyone to learn their story and experience one of their events.

One thing Loren said yesterday really stayed with me:

“Welcome home.”

Two simple words that perfectly capture what we’re trying to build at Ole Red. More than a farm. A place where people feel connected, welcomed, and at home.

Support your local ranchers. Know where your food comes from. Keep these traditions alive.

We have choices. Let’s make sure future generations do, too.

In December when we finished our family Christmas party, Bianca and I looked at each other and said “No more parties.”

In fact, 2026 we have hosted and attended more parties than last year. 😝

We love to feature Charcuterie as gifts whenever we can. We love to incorporate as much from the farm and farmstand as possible. These were part of the wedding cocktail hour yesterday. Pear Butters, sourdough baguettes, mango jalapeño jelly, salsas, you name it all great accompaniments on boards!

Keep us in mind as you are heading into the holidays. Our jams, and jellies and preserves are not just amazing on sandwiches, they are amazing on charcuterie boards as well! They also make truly special gifts too!

To the couple that drove all the way from Redwood City, thank you for adding Ole Red to your itinerary! We are sorry we missed you this weekend. We are rarely closed, just doing our best to manage jobs, a bustling farm, an incredible farmstand and somehow incorporating personal lives too! ♥️♥️♥️

Just a little reminder we are closed today Sunday Oct 4th. Greg and I were on a motorcycle run yesterday and Bianca was in SF for Disney. So we had no time to prep for today! ♥️

We will be at a wedding next weekend. So we will be closed.

But, have no fear… we will be back Oct 17th fully stocked with fall goodies.

BTW….. all you Bang Bang fans….. that Raider horseshoe sold….. and I brought in that gorgeous 49er horseshoe last night! 🖤
