George Washington ate hoecakes with honey almost every day for breakfast, but where did he get the honey? The only mention of Washington's bees comes from an entry on July 28, 1787, which states three hundred nails were given out at the Circle Storehouse to an indentured English joiner named Matthew Baldridge, “to make a bee house.” Lincoln, too, was reportedly "very fond of honey." The quote "If you want to gather honey, don't kick over the beehive" is often (possibly erroneously) attributed to Lincoln.

St. Valentine protector of Lovers &
🐝 Protector of Beekeepers 🐝

This isn’t your typical Valentine’s Day post —
but there’s a beautiful connection between bees, honey, and St. Valentine.

Long before hearts and chocolates, St. Valentine was associated with care, devotion, and protection. He is widely recognized as the patron saint of beekeepers, believed to watch over both the sweetness of honey and those who lovingly tend the hives.

For centuries, bees have symbolized love and devotion:
• Cupid dipped his arrows in honey to sweeten hearts
• Ancient Egyptians believed bees were the tears of the sun god Ra
• Bees were seen as messengers between the divine and humankind

Even the word “honeymoon” comes from honey — a symbol of sweetness, abundance, and the early days of love.

When you look at it this way, it makes perfect sense:
the patron saint of love is also the protector of beekeepers — guardians of one of love’s oldest symbols.

Gentle care. Steady protection. Quiet devotion.
Just like life in the hive.

Wishing all our bee friends a peaceful, bee-utiful Valentine’s Day —
may your hives be calm and your hearts full. 🐝💛

🐝 They fly from flower to flower, silently keeping our world alive.
From the food on our plates to the colors in our gardens—bees make it possible. 🌼🍯
But today, they are disappearing.
No bees means no balance, no harvest, no future.
🌱 Plant bee-friendly flowers
🚫 Say no to harmful pesticides
💛 Protect their homes, protect our tomorrow
Saving bees isn’t a choice — it’s a responsibility.
Let’s act now, before the buzz goes silent.

Today our hearts are full of gratitude. 🐝🍯
At the Largest North America Honey & Beeswax Championship, held during the North America Honey Bee Expo at the Kentucky Exposition, we were honored to receive 8 ribbons.

This recognition is especially meaningful to us because this is our second time being named North America Honey & Beeswax Champions — the first was in 2023. To be recognized again at this level is truly humbling.

My husband and I are deeply thankful that our honey and honey products continue to be acknowledged among the best in North America. This journey is built on years of hard work, dedication, and deep respect for our bees.

We are so grateful for our bees, the beekeeping community, our family and friends, and everyone who supports and believes in our work. Thank you for being part of this journey with us — we couldn’t do it without you. 💛🐝

🐝✨ The North America Honey Bee Expo is finally coming! We’ve been waiting all year for this amazing event. I can’t wait for the incredible speakers, inspiring presenters, and valuable workshops. It’s going to be an unforgettable experience! 🍯🐝
