New crew alert! Chloe came to us recently and has helped take Paramount to the next level with her ocean knowledge, hard work and positive attitude. Welcome Chloe!!!
Chloe Vetterli was born and raised in Santa Cruz, California to a family who nurtured her love for the ocean at a young age. From long afternoon surf sessions with Dad, and early mornings pier fishing with Grandpa her passion blossomed into a lifelong pursuit for a career at sea. During her teenage years she competed professionally in surf competitions in the US and later in Mexico where she fell in love with the culture, surf breaks and seafood. Chloe spent as much time as possible in Mexico, competing in contests, teaching surf lessons at an all women’s surf camp, and finding the best breaks along the Mexican Pacific. Eventually she found her second home in a small fishing surfing town in Southern Baja, returning year after year for south swells and the bountiful sport fishing season. After her first few trips with the local fishermen she was obsessed, getting on any boat she could bringing in big game fish. After many seasons of fishing, surfing and traveling in Mexico, she returned to the US long term in 2019 where she immediately procured her MMC and began work as a deckhand for a deep sea commercial fisher and towboat USA out of Oceanside, CA. In late 2020 itching for travel and tropical waters during the pandemic, Chloe became a deckhand on a large motor yacht traveling between various islands in the Caribbean. For two years she lived and worked on two different vessels, maintaining the exterior of the boat while fishing as well as coordinating water sports and other excursions for guests. She returned to San Diego in fall of 2022 to be closer to family and friends. She began looking for a local commercial fishing job where she ultimately joined the team at Paramount Fish Co., aligning with their values of family, community and sustainable fishing.
