Jelly disappeared for a few days and came back this morning like nothing happened… with 14 poults in tow.

Turns out she wasn’t missing—she was busy becoming a mom.

One determined turkey hen, fourteen healthy babies, and a reminder that sometimes the best things on the farm happen when nobody is watching.

Just the lift of joy I needed this morning.

Meet our Pekin × Gourmand Cross meat ducks enjoying a fresh paddock at Lord-Cranmer Farm.

The Pekin brings efficient growth and a generous frame, while the Gourmand contributes the rich flavor, texture, and culinary qualities that make duck such a special addition to the table. The result is a bird that thrives on pasture and produces exceptional meat with deep flavor and excellent fat quality.

These ducks spend their days grazing, foraging, chasing bugs, and enjoying fresh pasture under Oregon skies. They’re moved regularly to fresh ground, helping improve the land while living the way ducks were meant to live.

Good farming is about more than producing food. It’s about raising animals with care, stewarding the land responsibly, and connecting our neighbors to something real.

Three years ago, I got into poultry farming without fully understanding how much I would come to need this work. What started as raising a few birds has become the physical expression of the life I fought very hard to build.

Lord-Cranmer Farm has given me purpose, structure, responsibility, and a way to reconnect with my community, the land, and myself. Every day I get to care for animals, improve the soil beneath my feet, feed my neighbors, and build something honest with my own hands. Six years ago, very few people would have believed I was capable of this life, including me.

Now the farm is entering its next stage of growth. I am working to expand our laying flock, improve infrastructure, stabilize year-round production, and continue building a regenerative local farm that can serve this community for years to come.
To help make that happen, I am raising between $50,000 and $70,000 through chicken shares, egg subscriptions, and community investment notes in the amounts of $500, $1000, $2,500, $5,000, and $10,000. For those interested, I have put together an investor packet that outlines the long-term vision and plan for Lord-Cranmer Farm.

This farm has never been built alone. It has been built by neighbors, customers, friends, family, chefs, farmers, and people willing to believe in both the work and the person behind it.

Because It Feels Real

At the end of the day, farming feels real in a way very few things do.

The work is physical. The seasons matter. The animals depend on you. Success is visible. Mistakes are visible too.

There is no pretending out here.

Just weather, work, growth, and the chance to do a little better tomorrow than you did today.

Keeping Agriculture Local

I believe local food systems matter.

Every time someone buys directly from a nearby farm, attends a farm dinner, or cooks food grown in their own valley, it strengthens the entire agricultural community around them.

That support keeps small farms alive.

I want to be part of building a food system that feels more connected, transparent, and resilient.
