The Helms family will be taking over ownership of the farm stand starting tomorrow morning,
👉Sat. 5/10 just in time for Mother’s Day.

and more to come soon.

Thank you to every one of you in this community for supporting us!
Thanks to the growing opportunities and responsibilities offered in our day jobs, it has come time to make a decision when there are a limited amount of hours in the day to do it all.

A couple fun rumors I’ve gotten a chuckle from concerning our big changes lately🤫
But I would like to take the opportunity to dispel: 😆
❌ Jess is not pregnant
❌ We are not getting divorced
❌ We did not sell the farm
❌ We are not bankrupt
✔️ I am still employed at Eble Htg & AC just like the last decade

In the meantime, I’ve been enjoying some time away from social media, breaks are good for the soul!

Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts,
The Lashleys 💚

Thanks so much to Mike Gray for stopping by our farm this summer to get a few shots in the late season! He asked some very interesting questions about the climate, carbon sequestration and the overall impacts of the food system.
This is part of a larger series for WNIN on many subjects and I’m looking forward to seeing all the interviews Mike was able to gather.
I love seeing innovative solutions for problems we all can have a hand in solving!

The harvest moon is full tonight, lighting up the empty fields. It’s a reminder of what was—what we pulled from the soil just weeks ago—and a sign of what’s still to come.
Under this bright sky, the land feels almost alive again, but it’s resting now, waiting, just like we are.

There’s an envy in this moon, though. It makes you want to skip ahead, to fast forward to the next season when the fields are green and full again. But the truth is, the work we do in these quiet months—the planning, the preparation, the patience—is what makes that future possible.

So tonight, under the light of this full moon, I’m thinking about the next season, not with impatience, but with respect for the process. Every hard, cold day between now and spring is part of the journey. And that’s what makes the harvest worth waiting for.

Is it too early to put out our pumpkins? Jess says NO! Bring on this fall weather and cozy sweater mornings w/ coffee in hand 🎃

I for one still think it’s a tad early and gonna hold on to summer just a bit longer 😎

Anyone decorating for fall yet??

It will still be a bit before we’ll have these on the farm stand, but they are growing!

But Jess said she gets first pickings since they’re in her front yard 😆

👨‍🌾🍅Fall tomatoes looking really good this year! Luckily rain isn’t something these need, all of these are hooked to an irrigation and fertigation system.
Because we all know we haven’t seen much rain in over a month 😭

Sending good thoughts to all you grain farmers out working today. Even Labor Day doesn’t mean a day off when you have crops in the field.

Everyone enjoying your long weekend, I hope it has been relaxing and recharging!
Please take some extra time in your travel, there are lots of farmers on the roads moving equipment today.

Tomatoes on the stand today with more to come all week.

Thanks for supporting your farmers, they keep this country fed, one plant at a time!

A Tribute to the Old Days

More than anything, I love those stories from the old timers. From my dad, grandparents, or the old men that gather at a gas station for coffee. A wise old man named Dan told me it would be a great a idea for someone to bring back the mobile farm stand. He said he remembers farmers pulling up to his neighborhood when he was a kid and his grandmother picking up fresh vegetables and fruit from the men who grew it.

So this is my chance. The chance to bring a little of the past back to life. To give our modern fast-paced society a little break on country time.

This year I’ve plowed up an entire backyard--6,500 square feet to be exact--and converted it to a vegetable and fruit plot with all the red, yellow and green that mother nature will allow me.

If you’re around my hometown of Rockport, or the city of Newburgh and Evansville, maybe you’ll see me. I’ll be the guy with the mustache, overalls and straw hat. Probably slicing watermelon or fat tomato and listening to some old Hank Williams.
