Firefly Berries

Firefly Berries We are closed to the public when we do not have fruit to pick. Our next available fruit will be strawberries in June 2026. Check back as June gets closer!

Although we no longer offer you pick strawberries, we do hope to offer already picked options. Firefly Berries is a family-owned berry farm. We offer pick-your-own strawberries and Concord Grapes. We also have pre-picked berries for those not interested in picking. Please call ahead for picking conditions and to order berries.

I am slowly catching up on computer work. We do still have strawberries (in both quart size and 4 lb boxes) available for purchase today and pick up between 5-6 pm. Just give us a call at 507-252-1309 to reserve your berries. Payment can be made when you arrive via cash or credit card.

And per my original plan for the day, here is a link to our newsletter with all the details on the season ahead. Spoiler - You can expect a daily update by 11 am here on Facebook throughout the season with all the information/availability of fruit etc. for the day.

Order your pre picked berries starting today, June 10!

Many apologies if you are trying to order online and it is not letting you check out. It appears pay pal added something new to the checkout process we were not aware of. The berries are not sold out. We still have a good amount of four lb boxes and quarts still available. We are switching to phone orders for the day until my tech support returns from his day job. Give us a call at 507-252-1309

**Also..just a note... Facebook messenger seems to not be working for me either (it's one of those days) -- so please call, don't message until I can get that fixed.

Online strawberry ordering update -- We will have already picked quarts and 4 lb boxes available for purchase today starting at 12 noon. We have a good amount, but not huge, so I am guessing we will sell out quickly. Do not fret! There are many more berries out in the field and we will continue to pick and update you daily with where/how you can purchase our strawberries. We anticipate picking for about two weeks. I am working on packaging and updating the website in the next two hours, so please be patient with us. Many of your questions can be answered by reading carefully or logging on to our website. I will respond to individual messages as soon as I am able, but I do not have an assistant. It is just me... and our kiddos who are still out in the heat picking.

Today's details. -- Online ordering starts at 12 noon and goes until 3 pm or until we sell out. Log on to our website (link below), click on the shop link and then the fresh produce link. Nothing will be listed until 12 noon when things go live, so do not fret if you see nothing listed right now. Curbside pick up will be today between 5-6 pm at our farm (5542 23rd St NE, Rochester). For today we are not making special accommodations for pickup times. If you have special circumstances, reach out and we will work out something in the coming week.

Pricing is $9 per quart (20 oz), $28 for a 4 lb box and $68 for a 10 lb flat.

We anticipate the next availability for berries to be at the Rochester Farmers Market on Saturday morning, June 13 starting at 7:30 am. We will have 4 lb boxes and quarts available at the market. If you are interested in 10 lb flats, we will begin offering those next week.

We have strawberries!! We have been in the field for just an hour and it is already evident that I will have berries to sell today-- likely just quarts and 4 lb boxes, but we will have some. After three years of next to nothing in terms of strawberry crop, I was very hesitant to get excited about the strawberries until they started to fill the boxes. I need to get back out in the field to finish picking before the heat comes on full force, but the plan is to have online ordering start at 12 noon. I will be back around 11 am to share more details. Until then, to answer the biggest questions we get -- we are not certified organic, but we do not spray any chemicals on our fruit or farm. And pricing this year is $9 per quart (20 oz), $28 for a 4 lb box and $68 for a 10 lb flat.

Over the years it has become so difficult to predict ripening of fruit because nothing is normal anymore when it comes to the weather. All that to say, with all the heat over the past weeks, the strawberries are ripening faster than we anticipated. While we are still getting small amounts… only enough that our grown kids can consume…we are hoping to have strawberries available for purchase by the end of the week, likely at the Rochester Farmers Market on Saturday. I will post more details in a couple of days, including pricing, etc. Thanks in advance for your patience and interest!

Apologies for being quiet over the past several weeks. The quiet in no one way indicates a lack of activity! On May 8 we celebrated with our second oldest child as he graduated from Mankato State University, and since then we have been hard at work planting, weeding, and prepping for strawberry season. We have just one acre again this year, but as of right now the plants are looking more promising than they have in many years. Fingers crossed we will have some to sell to you all. As of right now we do not have exact details to share regarding how/where we will be selling strawberries, but we do know that we will NOT be offering you pick and we WILL have some available at the Farmers Market on Saturday mornings as soon as they are available. We anticipate the season to start around Father's Day, but will update as the weeks progress and we have more details to share. Until then, enjoy this fun little video I put together to get you all excited for the yumminess we hope will come soon!

A little fun regarding our strawberry 2026 season. More details regarding the season ahead will be shared soon on both our website and our pages.htt...

Tomorrow is May 1st and that means the start of the Rochester Farmers Markets! Summer market season runs every Saturday (May thru October) from 7:30 am until 12 noon at the Olmsted County Fairgrounds. It is too soon for us to have fresh fruit yet, but I will be set up this Saturday, May 2nd with jams, jellies, apricot sauce, grape juice, raw honey, naturally dyed yarn and my own knitwear patterns. Stop by and say hi. I am in the same booth spot I have been for the past several years. Hope to see you Saturday!

The sudden surge in rain and warmer temps this week has put everything in catch up mode, including us. If you drive by these days, you will find us frantically pruning blackberries and tying grapevines. The buds on the grapevines are quickly starting to swell and bleed (when the water starts to flow through the vines, waking them up) which means each day is a race. Why? Although we can still tie grapes for awhile, the larger the buds, the easier it is to accidentally knock them off while tying. Wish us luck!

We are all packed up and ready for our last farmers market of the season. The outdoor Rochester Farmers Market runs through the end of October before it moves indoors, but this Saturday (October 11) will be our last day there. Stop by the Olmsted County Fairgrounds between 7:30 am and 12 noon to stock upon all your favorites! I won’t have grapes, but I will have a few blackberries, as well as lots of jam, jelly, grape juice, raw honey, and naturally dyed yarn. If you are a yarn lover, I will also be at the Textile market on November 8 from 9-12 noon.

The 2025 Grape Season has officially ended. Thank you to everyone who came out to help with the harvest this year. It was a warm one, but we very much appreciate all your support for our small business. If the weather behaves, I am hoping to set up at the Rochester Farmers Market one more weekend (Oct.11), so if you need any grape juice, jams/jellies, or raw honey, that will be a great time for you to stock up for the winter. You can also call us directly (507)252-1309 to order and pick up at the farm.
