Independence Valley Farm, owned by Betsie DeWreede, began growing organic produce in 1982. We've been growing tulips since 1992. We transitioned out of vegetables in 2000, which allowed us to focus on and expand our tulip production. Our tulips are field grown, not forced in greenhouses, on certified organic soil with no pesticides or fertilizers applied. We plant roughly 25,000 bulbs in the fall

which are hand-harvested daily from mid-March to early May. We love growing the various types of tulips, such as lily-flowered, peony-flowered, and Darwin Hybrids. It's exciting to see them in all stages of their development: from tight-bud stage to distinct and gorgeous full blooms. Come share our passion for tulips! Visit us at the Olympia Farmers Market which opens the first Thursday in April. Hours: 10-3, Thursdays through Sundays.
