WHAT KTS IS BUILDING Pt 1

Eight years ago, my journey began with a simple belief:

Access matters.

Access to fresh food.

Access to health resources.

Access to education.

Access to opportunities.

Seven months ago, that vision expanded with the launch of KTS Farmers Market.

A place created to provide opportunities.

Opportunities for families to bring fresh, farm-to-table food home.

Opportunities for children to learn where real food comes from.

Opportunities for people to know their numbers before a health crisis happens.

Opportunities for our community to gather around food, health, and connection.

None of this happens alone.

It happens because farmers, small businesses, community partners, sponsors, and families show up every week believing that access matters.

Change happens one family, one meal, one conversation, and one Saturday at a time.

That’s why we’re here every Saturday, rain or shine, in the same place at the same time. Because building trust, access, and community starts with consistency.

That’s what KTS is building.

A few days ago, I decided KTS Farmers Market needed a website.

So I sat down and built one.

Less than 48 hours later, it was live.

As I started organizing everything onto the website, something unexpected happened. I realized KTS Farmers Market isn’t just a farmers' market.

It’s part of a much larger ecosystem.

That’s where The Rites of Passage for Women comes in.

What started years ago through The Royal Womb as a personal wellness journey has grown into something much bigger than I ever imagined.

🌱 Education
🌱 Small Business Support
🌱 Community Connection

Honestly, building this website forced me to get everything out of my head and onto paper. In doing so, I realized just how much has been accomplished.

Recently, someone asked:

Y’all still doing this?

The answer is yes.

We’re still doing this.

And we’re going to keep doing this.

Why, because it became bigger than running a farmers' market.

It’s now about building community where access to nourishing  food, wellness resources, and opportunity isn’t limited by income, transportation, or ZIP code.

It’s about creating opportunities for local farmers, small businesses, families, and future generations right here in Ridgecrest, East Kern County, and the Antelope Valley.

The website isn’t perfect.

Neither is the work.

But both are growing.

In the middle of the fresh produce, local vendors, music, and conversations… it’s those quiet little moments that remind you what community really looks like.

KTS Farmers Market is more than shopping. It’s connection. 🌴☀️

Over the past few weeks, KTS Farmers Market has had TWO hand-washing sinks stolen from our market site, along with multiple trash cans.

Because of that, the porta-potty must remain locked for safety and sanitation reasons. If there is nowhere for the public to wash their hands properly, we cannot responsibly reopen the restroom.

And honestly, I will say no more because it’s not nice.

This market was built to serve the community. To create access to fresh farm-to-table food, local farmers, small businesses, wellness, and connection right here in Ridgecrest.

So when things like this happen, it doesn’t hurt a corporation.
It hurts our vendors and our customers

Did you know some of our vendors drive more than 2 hours to bring fresh produce and goods to Ridgecrest? One of the first things they do after parking and before setting up is to use the restroom, then serve the community all morning.

To some people, stealing a hand-washing sink or damaging access to the restroom may not seem like a big deal. It may seem like, Oh, it can just be replaced. But it affects real people.

It affects vendors who drive long hours.
It affects families shopping with children.
It affects elderly customers.
It affects community members who walk up to ask us every Saturday, Why is the restroom locked?

People are trying to use the restroom and cannot. Some may not be able to make it to another location in time. Little things matter.

We are actively working on solutions and trying to replace what was taken, but we wanted to be transparent about why the restroom remains closed right now.

To everyone who continues to support the market, respect the space, shop local, and show kindness to our vendors, thank you. We truly appreciate you. 💚

Hey parents, if your kids are asking about those viral TikTok squishies, yes, you've officially found them at KTS Farmers Market. 😂🥟🍞

These little mystery squishies had them kids going CRAZY.

So if you had no plan of coming to the market this Saturday, we just changed that, come early. Grab a tamale, shop fresh produce, support local vendors, browse handmade goods, and let the kids find their new favorite squishy while you shop. 💛
