Weekend projects!

We split one of our goat pens into two separate small pens. This will be where the intact bucks stay this winter and will be used for kidding in the spring. We also cleaned the goat pens and chicken barn. The last thing we did was build a new hay feeder for the goats. This one is bigger and more user friendly than our previous ones.

We finally got lights in the chicken pen!

One of the quirks to chickens is that if they don’t have enough daylight they won’t lay eggs. As the days are getting shorter we have noticed a decrease in egg production so we had to get some lighting for our girls.

We currently have some eggs available, and will have plenty more on the way. Feel free to call/text or send us a Facebook message and we will get you some eggs.

We were thankful to have Labor Day off from day jobs yesterday so we could get lots of stuff around the farm done.

We have increased our goat pasture yet again, and have started to add to our goat herd. We are working on growing meat goats in addition to beef and chicken & eggs. And fixed some of the fence for the cows.

Little farm update because we have been slacking on the Facebook posts.

The laying chickens run has been expanded to include the goat pasture and the goats have been destroying all things that we call weeds and brush. They will be need a pasture expansion shortly.

The meat chickens will all be off to the butcher in the next week. So if you pre-ordered chicken they will be ready shortly.

The cows are all enjoying pasture, we breed several in the last week and we should be expecting some new babies here shortly.

Little Eggs!!

Little eggs can only mean one thing. Our newest batch of chickens have started laying! This means our egg production is going to increase in the coming weeks. If you would like to purchase a dozen or possibly get on weekly or biweekly pickup schedule let us know and we can make it happen. $3 per dozen.

Check out the haul from today! We got our first greenish egg from our Easter Eggers!

We are a little late on the chicken update but that is because they made the big move today. They left the brooder behind and now are in the big pen. They have switched over from a mash style feed to a crumb/pellet style. They are growing like crazy
