❤️🥩 Meet the Darnells: Our Why

Hi, Quincy! 👋 We thought the best way to introduce ourselves would be to start with our why.

But before we talk meat, deli sandwiches, and all things Butcher Block, we thought you should get to know the people behind the business.

Our family consists of Joe, Alexis, our four children, and a rat terrier named Roy! 🐾 Our calendar is usually packed with youth sports and activities, we love volunteering and participating in our parish community, and we believe time spent with family and friends is key to happiness. We love fun in the sun, outdoor adventures, our country, and most importantly, Jesus. 🇺🇸✝️

Family, faith, community, and hard work are at the heart of who we are. Those values shape how we live our lives, and they’re a big part of what makes this new adventure so meaningful to us.

We know The Butcher Block is about so much more than meat. It’s about the people who walk through the doors, the families gathered around the dinner table, the traditions passed down through generations, and the community that makes Quincy feel like home. We’re honored to become a small part of your stories, too.

We promise this page won’t be all about us, but we felt it was important to start by sharing a little about why we’re here and what matters most to us.
We’re grateful to be here, excited for what’s ahead, and looking forward to getting to know all of you!

The i’s have been dotted, the t’s have been crossed, and there is officially a new meat man on the block! 🥩

New owners: Joe Darnell & Alexis Oppy Darnell

We are beyond excited for the opportunity to carry on the legacy of The Butcher Block and continue serving the Quincy community.

We want to extend our deepest thanks to the entire Veihl family for more than two decades of hard work, dedication, and commitment to making The Butcher Block a true community staple. We’re also incredibly grateful to the dedicated staff who have helped make this business what it is—and we’re excited to share that the team is staying in place!

As new owners, our goal is simple: honor what has been built while bringing new energy and excitement to The Butcher Block.

It’s business as usual—continuing to focus on the quality products, friendly service, and community connections that have made The Butcher Block a Quincy favorite.
