Thanks to the help of a dear friend, we were able to upgrade the Quack & Splash from a small kitty pool to their new spa. We got this cornor tub off Facebook Marketplace more than a year ago but we haven’t had the chance to install it. I had originally planned to put it in the ground by that would have been more work. I’ve connected the drain so it feeds four of our trees, this saving water and giving the trees nourishment. I still need to build a safety rail so no one falls between the tub and the wire and then build a nice wall all the way around it so it looks nice and keeps the ducks out from under it.

Yesterday we put trees on the ramps and though they ate all the treats, the never got in the pool and still act afraid of the ramp. I tried telling them that they are ducks not chickens they responded by calling me a quack. Let’s see how long it takes them.

I've been having fun out in the garden. I drove in four T-poles and then used a 16-foot cattle panel to create an arch for our tomatoes to grow on. I already did one earlier this week for our melons. The tomatoes and peppers are doing great. The corn is getting there. Yesterday, I cleaned out the Quack & Splash making our ducks happy.

I can't claim credit for everything
My wife does most of the work in our garden. She's the Queen bee and I'm just the worker bee. I should add I'm a stroke survivor and my wife is confined to a wheelchair it's up to me to do most of the physical stuff.

We’ve been practicing bo***ge with our tomatoe plants. Today we removed the wall-o-waters trimmed up and thinned out the tomatoe plants and then tying them up.

My wife found this idea of using t-poles 1 1/4” PVC fittings and 1/2” EMC pipe to build a strong frame to tie the plants to. The t-poles are six foot driven about two feet into the ground. This gives the tomatoes about four feet of string to climb up. I can’t wait for our first tomatoes to be ready.

Making 15 gallon waterers for some of my chickens today. I got the buckets off of Facebook Marketplace and the ni***es from Amazon. I had five gallon waterers but got tired of filling them every few days. I’m also making a feeder out of these so I can go longer between feeds. The five gallon feeders hold about 25 pounds of feed. So these should hold about 75 pounds.

These are easy to make however, come winter I will move back to the five gallon waterers. Total cost, about $15.00 for the waterer and about $20.00 for the feeder. Much cheaper that buying ones from the store.

Still a work in progress, my tomato supports. All I’ve done so far is a general layout. I still need to plumb up the poles and figure the best way to secure everything.

I started with six foot t-poles hammered in about two feet. My tomato beds are raised beds and I wanted to make sure the t-poles go into the hard ground below. Next I’m using 1-1/4 inch PVC fittings on top of the t-poles. Lastly “for now” I installed 1/2 inch metal conduit which will be the upper support.

Later after we plant the tomatoes we will stake a twine at the base of each tomato plant and stretch it to the conduit above. This will become the suport for each plant.

This planter is “U” shaped. The bottom of the U isnt as wide as the two sides. I ran one suport 1/3 of the way in one each side going from front to back. I ran a second set another 1/3 of the way on the inner side of the U but this time I ran it so that they ended at the midway point of the bottom of the U and ran an additional conduit between the back t-poles this giving a U shaped set of supports. I will add more photos later in the year as we get everything planted and as they grow.

Lets see how ell I can explain this. Currently I have a 5x10 run setting side by side with a 5x20 run. There backs are line up and the share a ten foot section or wall. I have a 10x10 roof over the shared area and an additional 5x10 roof over the remaining area. For now these are two different runs. Earlier this week, I picked up two additional five foot panels and another 10x10 roof. My goal is to take out the to shared panels and use them to extend the current 5x10 to a 5x20. replacing the 5x10 roof with the new 10x10 one. This will give me one 20x10 run, That will leave me with two spare panels which I will combine with the two new ones and extend part of the 20x10 by 5x10. I can then reuse the 5x10 roof I removed earlier giving them a total run area of 250 sq ft. This should make my chicks happy.

My egg count is way up despite the weather, I don’t know if it is because of the fermented food or just more hens coming of age.

My birds love their fermented feed and their greens. Saddly it’s been awhile since I last gave them any greens. Today we had some greens that I needed to get out of the fridge to make room for more eggs, my chickens are going crazy. I decided to be lazy and just throw there veggies on top of their fermented food. It was fun watching the chickens as they would grab their favorite piece and run off with it often while being chased by others that want the same price even though there are many just like it still in the bowl.

This was true for all my chickens except my Silkys they gave me a dirty look for spoiling their perfectly fine fermented food with green stuff. They then attempted to eat the good stuff attempting not to come in contact with the “green stuff”.
