IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT for everyone planning to come to the farm store today:

You need to get here before 11am.

Why?

Because we're having a baby!!

Well...we're not having a baby. 😂

Our daughter Callie and her husband Zack are.

And today we're hosting her baby shower right here at the farm!

This is a pretty big deal for us because this will be our first grandchild. 🎉

We're excited. Really excited.

We're also having a hard time wrapping our heads around the fact that we're going to be grandparents. I'm pretty sure I was just changing diapers myself a few minutes ago!

So, because of the baby shower, the farm store will be open from 9-11am today instead of our normal 9–12.

If you need to stock up after 11am, you can also find us at Quarterfield Markets, which is open until 2:00 PM on Saturday.

And if you happen to show up at the farm after 11...

Well, you're welcome to come.

But we expect you to bring a gift for the baby. 😂

So come see us between 9 and 11, grab the meat you need for the weekend, and then we'll be switching gears from selling meat to celebrating the newest member of the Chicory Hill Farm family.

We wanted to give you a quick update about our market schedule.

We will not be at the Chesterfield Farmers Market this week, and we’ve also decided that we won’t be at the Powhatan Farmers Market for the remaining four markets of this season.

​

As many of you know, this is our fifth year at the Powhatan Farmers Market, and we’ve really enjoyed being part of the market community and getting to know so many of you over the years.

​

The reality is that life is just especially busy for our family right now. Between our girls’ volleyball schedules and our exchange student’s field hockey schedule, our family calendar has gotten pretty full. We’ve decided that, for the remainder of this season, we need to simplify things a bit and give ourselves some breathing room.

But don’t worry—you can still find us and our products!

You can shop our products at Quarterfield Markets Tuesday–Saturday, so you can continue to pick up your Chicory Hill Farm favorites throughout the week.

🇺🇸 There’s a LOT of anger right now over President Trump’s decision to import 300,000 metric tons of foreign beef in an effort to bring beef prices down.

And honestly? I understand it.

I agree with a lot of the ranchers who are criticizing the decision. 🐂

But I don’t want to make another video telling you why Trump is wrong.

I want to ask a different question:

How did we get to the point where we expect politicians to solve problems that we’ve gradually handed over to them?

We’ve outsourced our food. 🥩
Our health. 🩺
Our children’s education. 📚
Our thinking. 🧠
And increasingly… our responsibility.

Then we’re shocked when the systems we’ve trusted don’t work the way we hoped.

I’m not saying politicians aren’t responsible.

They are.

I’m saying we are, too.

Maybe the answer isn’t waiting for the right politician to save us.

Maybe it’s taking back responsibility for the things we actually have control over.

🏠 Start with your family.
🌱 Start with your food.
🧠 Start with thinking for yourself.
🤝 Start with knowing the people you depend on.

Don’t wait for Washington.

Don’t wait for the next election.

Don’t wait for somebody else.

Take responsibility.

Because maybe the biggest problem isn’t that our systems are broken…

Maybe the problem is us.

We are all set up at the Chesterfield County Farmers Market. We are restocked on pork so that means we have breakfast sausage and bacon!

We can also take reservations for bulk packages and answer any questions you may have about those as well.

When our bulk beef, pork and chicken packages open on Tuesday, August 18th, we're going to have something special for our opening-day customers.

🦃 The first 9 orders will receive a FREE pasture-raised Thanksgiving turkey from our farm!

Once those 9 turkeys are claimed, we'll switch to our second bonus:

🎁 Everyone else who places a bulk package order on opening day will receive a bonus bundle filled with some of our favorite farm products.

Your bonus bundle could include things like:

🥩 Beef sticks
🧈 Beef tallow
🧀 Amish cheese
🍲 Bone broth
…and maybe a few other surprises!

So whether you're one of the first 9 or you just miss the turkey, there's a little something extra waiting for you on opening day.

Our next round of bulk meat packages opens Tuesday, August 18th!

If you've been thinking about filling your freezer with our beef, pork and chicken, this is your chance to stock up for the months ahead.

We only offer our bulk packages twice a year, and we'll have a limited number of packages available.

Over the next few days, we'll be sharing more about the different packages, how much meat your family might actually need, how much freezer space you'll need, and some pretty great bonuses we're giving away.
