I was going to hire out the shearing this year, but when I went to trim hooves I noticed some wool pulling and some sores on the ewes that needed to be treated so I thought, "What the heck, I'll just get it done"... Not my favorite chore by any means but I did manage to do a semi-decent job on all the girls. Now I just have the rams to do and I need to brush the wool off the yaks.
The girls look just about as scraggly as I feel rn 🥴.

Hey all, so I had some requests from people to come over and help butcher chickens to learn the ropes. Unfortunately we had to spur-of-the-moment get all our butchering done, before hubby left on a work trip, so I made a video of the process. I am NOT a butchering professional by any means so take this all with a grain of salt. This is just how we do it around here.

Special note: I forgot to say that we put the processed meat in a cooler with cold water and ice for a minimum of 30ish hrs and a maximum of 70ish hrs to get the meat past muscle rigor mortis. Freezing the meat during rigor will make it super tough. KEEP THE MEAT AT 40⁰F ! Don't spoil your hard work by letting the meat go bad.
