I picked this image because as I saw a flower floating by me in the middle of the ocean one day while I was out fishing, it honestly surprised me. I wouldn't call it shocking, but I'd say it was enough to get me thinking about the home Id left behind on this big blue sea. I even wrote a poem about it at one point. While surprising, but also grounding, that flower reminded me of all the different parts that make me, me. I mourned, accepted what I couldn't change, and forged a new path forward.
That being said, I've found the words of activist, trainer, strategist, and author, Daniel Hunter, so insightful. I was able to process and channel all the emotions coming up in a way that worked for me. So I'm passing these words and links to his work along for others that might benefit from them:

"1. Trust yourself
2. Find others you trust
3. Grieve
4. Release that which you cannot change
5. Find your path
6. Do not obey in advance, do not self censor
7. Re-orient your political map
8. Get real about power
9. Handle fear, make violence rebound
10. Envision a positive future"
Read much more lengthy descriptions of these key points in the link above if this speaks to you.
