As we head into the summer boating season, we wanted to take a moment to share our story.

Jantzen Fuel Depot is a family-owned convenience store and gas/diesel dock with a simple goal: be great neighbors to the entire North Portland Harbor community and create a destination spot for local boaters.

Last night, a fire damaged a home under construction just downriver from Jantzen Fuel Depot on the west side of the bridge.

Thank you to everyone who reached out to check on us. We were not affected, & we appreciate the concern.

Our thoughts are with the property owners, contractors, & everyone impacted by the damage. We’re also grateful to the firefighters who responded so quickly.

Portland's premier on-water boat show is getting a new name, a new venue, and a whole new experience — and we couldn't be more excited to share it with you.

☀️ 75° on a Wednesday? Sounds like a boating day to us.

We’re open till 6PM today in the North Portland Harbor on Hayden Island, & the water is looking perfect. Stop by for fuel, cold drinks, snacks, ice cream, beer, ice, & a quick dockside break before heading back out. 🚤🌊

Memorial Day is a good day to remember that the waters around Hayden Island weren’t always just recreation & summer weekends.

During WWII, the Columbia & Willamette became part of the American home front.

⚓ Just upriver, Kaiser’s Portland & Vancouver shipyards built hundreds of Liberty & Victory ships that carried troops, fuel, equipment, & supplies across the world. Together the yards produced 752 ships during the war effort. 

🏗️ Swan Island wasn’t an industrial district yet — it became a wartime shipyard focused on building T2 tankers. 

🏠 Just east of Hayden Island sat Vanport, built almost overnight to house tens of thousands of wartime workers building those ships. At one point it became Oregon’s second-largest city. 

🌉 The Columbia crossing itself became strategic infrastructure — moving workers, materials, and ships between Portland & Vancouver.

We enjoy these waters for boating, sunsets, & community — but for a few years they helped power the Allied victory.

Today, we remember not just those who served overseas, but also the workers, families, & communities here at home who answered the call.

Before we’ve even closed, enemy forces have breached the dock perimeter and commenced biological warfare. The unspeakable horror awaiting us tomorrow morning is already in progress.
