As you know, I’m clearing out my grow room and have some trays left to harvest. Does anyone want microgreens tomorrow? I just have basic mix, spicy mix, purple radish, cilantro and one container worth of cantaloupe. Usual price $6 and pickup at my house.

Hey folks! I’m closing Cindy’s Microgreens to pursue Health and Wellness Coaching. I also need a better work life balance. I am passing the reins on to Kristen Mecerod. Her company is called Microcosm. If you’d like to have a subscription delivery weekly or bi weekly let me know and I’ll pass you on to Kristen. She’s working on her FB page. I and Kristen will only supply DreamPort for two more weeks after this week. They decided to stick with one supplier that’s a certified organic grower. Kristen and I have always grown organically, the cost is prohibitive at the moment to become certified, especially with such a small weekly order from DreamPort. The other supplier also farms other vegetables not just microgreens.

—————-

I’m angry.

I got a call from a woman up in Colgate, WI yesterday, that had a pig at large on her property. A pig she strongly believes was dumped by a nearby animal “flipper” (someone that is constantly buying and selling animals because they cannot commit and do anything in the best interest of the animals). She contacted the local police and they pretty much told her that is was her problem now. Somehow, she found me. She called me yesterday and as sick as I am with a horrible head cold, I started making calls. I called a contact with animal control that drove up there to help them contain the pig - thank you for helping them!

I DO NOT NEED THIS. 💔

My husband and I drove up to Colgate and snagged this guy this afternoon. He is definitely intact and terrified. He has overgrown tusks and he uses them. We got him in a crate and he was able to get it open with his tusks. 😳 This behavior is all normal for a pig in a bad situation and not at all a reflection of who this guy may be… he is in survival mode. He is about 4x larger than he was described to me yesterday, but he is definitely a “mini pig.”

I do not have a place for another pig needing to be neutered and rehabbed. My quarantine place is FULL with Taz right now and will be for MONTHS. And Taz deserves that time to recover and be able to integrate safely.

I have no idea how we will make this all work, but I will. I’m just doing SOMETHING, ANYTHING to help. I desperately need another shelter for this guy to decompress. I wish I had another shed. This time of year, I need to protect this pig from the elements. I need a ton of straw bales to help keep this guy warm. He is safe in our barn for now.

I also need to PAY FOR ALL OF THIS. 💔 I work part-time. I love my life and I’m so happy I’m in a position to be able to help. But, I’m ANGRY that no one else is stepping up to help, here. Milwaukee is having some sort of crisis with pigs being dumped all over. I have taken in THREE pigs found dumped since September. THAT IS FOUR MONTHS.

I cannot take in any more pigs after this. If anyone here in the metro-Milwaukee area can help going forward with these cases, PLEASE REACH OUT. If people are going to call me, and I can refer you, please let me know! ❤️ I need a network to fall back on. If you know anyone that has a farm like ours, please SHARE THIS POST. More people like me have to be out there. I need to have resources to contact when the next time happens. Because there will be a next time. I can only help for so long! I’m looking for PEOPLE. Not groups. Not sanctuaries. Sanctuaries are full and rescues are overrun.

If anyone has not yet donated to this pig mess and feels so inclined, it would be appreciated and go to a very worthy cause. He will get necessary care. My Venmo is -mayhew and my PayPal is [email protected]. Thank you to the network of community that has already helped and donated - you are appreciated more than I can ever communicate in a FB post.

I need to build a network of people like me. This pig epidemic isn’t ending. I’m so grateful for all the people that I’ve met doing this. I just need more people! ❤️

I’m heartbroken that this is still happening. Animals deserve better than they’re getting.

Just to let you know I’m canceling the website and email. Best way to reach me for personal orders is here. I’m still growing but on a smaller scale. I’m focusing on teaching and coaching. I feel I’ll help more people this way. If you wish to learn to grow I have classes at Mequon and Thiensville Rec Department, or you can reach out for a private session with me. It’s so much rewarding and economical to grow your own. It isn’t that hard once you get it down. Plus I’ll be on hand to offer advice.

Healthy breakfast. I get tired of oats and peanut butter. I made white bean hummus and grew alfalfa sprouts in a jar as my microgreens aren’t ready yet. Fruit is dragon fruit and red bananas. My sprouting lids are coming today so I’ll bulk grow alfalfa sprouts if you want some next Friday.

Another round of planting and things are growing! Had to turn up heat and turn off dehumidifier though.

So from dairy to chemicals? Not sure that’s any better.
