🍓 Strawberries - the more you know! 🍓
As we approach the end of strawberry season, I thought it would be fun to share a little about the different varieties we grow and why we chose this mix.
We currently have four varieties planted on our farm - Gaspers' Garden - to spread out the harvest window and give us a longer season:
🍓Earliglow - Our earliest variety and the tiniest berries, but they’re also the sweetest! These started ripening at the end of May.
🍓Jewel - Classic mid-season favorite. Large berries with excellent flavor!
🍓Darselect - Mid-season variety known for big, sweet berries.
🍓AC Valley Sunset - Our largest berries and latest variety. These will help extend picking into late June.
Even with the frost challenges this season, having varieties that ripen at different times helps spread out the risk and gives us more weeks of fresh berries.
