The moisture our thirsty desert has craved is here, and the Sun will be out in the morning to encourage a little more Fall growth. We’ll be at the Farmer’s Market tomorrow for the last time this season! Come out in the morning to stock up on Bowman Farm Fire and Charelle’s Allnatcharelle Face Cream to get you through the Winter.

We are about to pull the trigger on Garlic bed building and planting here at our new farm. We’re taking much care in the placement of these beds knowing that the beds we make today will be serving you and us for many years to come. The first year won’t be ideal, the soil still needs to shed its weight of weeds and come together with a soil life balance that serves the Garlic well, but boy does it feel great to be igniting the flame!!

Take a look at our cute little year one green Tomato crop, they never made it to market, but because these Tomato plants did a lot of soil work this year, we’ll have a little something more to show next year.

We’re so fortunate to have made it through this 1st farm rebuild year with just enough poverty to squeak into the Spring 😊 Thank you friends for being so caring and supportive through the Ebb of Bowman Farm, see you in a greater Flow 🧡

We’re so lucky to enjoy these crystal blue Fall days! The heat of the Sun, so intense all Summer, is now such welcome warmth. At the Farm, all focus is on new Garlic beds…we’ll be planting as soon as we can.

We’ll be back with you at the Market in the morning. We’ll bring our final cucumber harvest, our new Farm Fire chili powder/flakes, and Organic Face Cream made with our own Calendula Oil! It’s gonna be a gorgeous day tomorrow, we look forward to the chance to connect with ya’ll in the morning! ☀️

Rake A Difference!…an amazing fundraiser for the Pocatello Free Clinic. Check out the flyer and take part by volunteering or pledging a donation to get your Fall leaves raked up. For our part, we provide one of the dump locations…added Bonus, we turn those leaves into plant food. They end up being mulch and compost material and sometimes go straight into the soil as they are. This is a primo fundraiser benefitting community in so many ways!!

The Farmer’s Market is open an extra hour for tomorrow’s Harvest Festival! We’ll be there with a great selection of Cucumbers and the first offering of our newest chili powder, Bowman Farm Fire 2025. The yield was over 35 pounds (8 gallons) of powder which we then spread in layers in the dehydrator to achieve the right moisture level for optimum color and flavor retention in storage. It was a labor of love, we are excited to share it!

We’re still tending to some beautiful Cherry Tomato plants worthy of a place in your little Greenhouse, they’re bearing ripe fruit.

We didn’t have to wait long for the Winter Rye Grass to germinate in the space allotted to one of next year’s High Tunnels. We’re on our way to healthy soil for next year’s farm.

Thank you all for the great patience you’ve offered us this season while we carefully piece this business back together. We look forward to seeing you in the morning! ✨

We will not be attending the Farmer’s Market this weekend. With our Saturday hours we will begin preparing our 2025 incarnation of Bowman Farm Fire. 🌶️🔥 Farm Fire is a chili powder crafted every season with the previous season’s dried hot and sweet pepper crop. Those “in the know” already understand that this beautiful mix of home grown peppers is now the rich flavor behind almost everything they chef up. We intend to have this available before the Farmer’s Market comes to an end for the year.

The ground we’ve been prepping with thick organic matter is now leveled and sown by the full moon to Winter Rye Grass. There still appears to be plenty of good weather to get strong germination before the grass goes dormant for the Winter. We’re very excited to see our farm slowly coming to life!

Enjoy this gorgeous Fall weather, have a beautiful weekend, we’ll see you next week at the Farmer’s Market’s Harvest Festival! 🍂

Hello Folks, The Farm is capitalizing on an old stockpile of composted horse manure to dress the soil where we will be constructing one of our High Tunnels. We hope to get this ground in action next season for Tomatoes and Cucumbers 🤞

Tomorrow at market we bring the best supply of Cucumbers we’ve had this season! 🥒 They’ve been growing in some improvised raised beds in our Nursery Greenhouse.

For those of you with small Greenhouses at home, we’re still tending to some beautiful Cherry Tomatoes plants in great big pots. Their bearing fruit, ready to ripen in your care.

Looks like some wonderfully cool Fall weather graces us in the morning, see you at the market!🌤️

Hello Folks, we are taking a day away from the Farmer’s Market this Saturday. It is a very rare moment for us…you’d think we’d take that freedom to get out of town or sleep in or do an art project…but with a schedule that keeps us farming all week and at market on Saturday and trying to connect with family and rest on Sunday we actually just need some time to get some good old fashioned yard work done! Gonna fire up the chainsaws in the morning :) Have a wonderful Saturday, we’ll see ya’ll next week!

Last week’s Full Moon ushered in a strong germination of Winter Rye Grass who have just peaked their little heads from the soil. This Winter Rye seed was harvested (by hand by an enthusiastic volunteer, Jason!) from last year’s cover crop at our old farm, and will bring life to our new farm! The Rye is meant to heavily cover a piece of our soil for Winter and then to grow strong in the Spring. This is done as a first phase of cover to make healthier soil for planting Garlic in the Fall of next year.

What remains of this year’s Garlic harvest comes to market in the morning 🧄

We’ve got big lovely Cherry Tomato Plants in pots! If the excitement you felt to plant a garden in the Spring has run thin due to the difficult experience of actually growing things, first, we commiserate, second, we offer you a chance to renew your joy, set the difficulties behind you and gaze upon a fully grown plant ready to produce fruit (no transplant required). It is important to keep the joy alive, have a little success so that next Spring you’re easily inspired to begin the learning again!

As the weather swings away from the heat, we are focused on all the things that will bring our farm strong into action next year.

We’ll see your beautiful faces in the morning☀️

Come enjoy a beautiful day at the Farmer’s Market tomorrow, about 10 degrees shy of today.
We’ve still got garlic, but looks like not for long!
And we offer a small indulgence, beautiful big Cherry Tomato plants that you can carry home to convince your friends and relatives that you’ve been successfully gardening all Summer 😉

The new farm is active on a couple fronts, beginning to refine precious compost for next seasons nursery and mowing down a pasture in which winter rye grass will be intercropped to prepare soil for our fall 2027 garlic planting. Gotta line those ducks up years ahead in this organic soil building business!

My goodness, this New Moon 🌚 brought a very new season! We are certainly blessed with rain and cool weather…maybe some of those heat stressed gardens will start to make a turn around this month.

We’ve got Garlic and the early bird gets the…Cucumber.
Some gorgeous Cherry Tomato plants are growing strong in pots waiting for a spot at your back door where you can sneak a sweet summer treat.

I suppose the true offering this little farm is making this season is the gift of scarcity…🙂 it’s hard to go without, you without a great Heirloom Tomato and us without the trade of funds to carry us through. But we all know, going without is like turning a page, and most of us could use a little change!
