🐔☀️ Summer and fermented feed just go together around here!

Sure, fermented feed can help with hydration, support healthy birds, and even stretch the feed bill a little further…

But honestly? One of my favorite parts is watching them enjoy it. 😂❤️

The messy beaks, the happy clucks, the little squabbles over the best bites, and seeing everyone leave with full bellies just makes me smile.

There’s something special about watching your animals truly enjoy what you’re giving them—not just eating to eat, but having fun with it. 🐔🥣🌻

Happy chickens, full crops, extra hydration, and a little less feed waste? That’s a summer win in my book. ☀️💛

🧁✨ Muffins and muffin donuts were on the menu today!

One thing about this homestead… we’re always finding an excuse to turn on the oven. 😂❤️

Today’s kitchen win was a batch of homemade muffins and muffin donuts. Simple, cozy, and gone way too fast! Topped with butter and my favorite cinnamon/sugar mix 🤤

Nothing beats filling the house with the smell of fresh baking while the kids, animals, and daily chaos keep us on our toes. 🌻🐐☕

We had a fun little surprise pop up near the chicken coop… a volunteer tomato plant decided to make itself at home! 😂🍅

One of my favorite things about a new property is discovering all the unexpected plants and treasures that show up when you least expect them.

🐐✂️ Well, I trimmed Mama’s hooves all by myself today! 🙌

Honestly, it was pretty smooth sailing… except for convincing that one back leg to cooperate. 😂

I also messed with Honey a little and got her cleaned up quite a bit. Now if only Mocha and Chip would just come lay down and let me work on them! 😝

Those big ol’ babies will come right up if I’m holding a brush or standing by their favorite tree branch, but Chip is still super shy and keeps to himself. At this rate, I have no idea how I’m ever gonna get a good look at his hooves! 🤣🐐

Yesterday was spent building most of the new goat shelter! 🐐💪

I still need to add a pallet floor inside and cover in the sides a bit more, but it’s coming together!

My wrists are definitely feeling all that hard work today. 😂

As always, my husband came home and helped reinforce my “Felicia rigging” to make sure it was safe for the babies. ❤️

Now onto turning their old makeshift shelter into something new!

GOOD MORNING from the goats! 🐐☀️

Y’all… I need some hype and encouragement. 😂

I’ve built the trust, we’ve got a routine, and Sugar Mama comes right to me… but the second I try to actually milk her, it’s like we’re both pretending we don’t know why we’re there. 🤣

I can barely keep this girl standing still long enough to touch her! I have a feeling a proper milk stand and head lock would help us both out.

So tell me, beginner goat milkers… what advice do you wish someone gave you when you started? Any tricks, tips, or confidence boosters are welcome because this farm mama is determined to learn! 🥛🐐❤️
