JT's Backyard Garden

JT's Backyard Garden This is just a simple page for the garden in my backyard in Piedmont, OK. I started selling vegetables at the Piedmont Farmer's Market in 2015.

Growing things is in my DNA. My family has been farming in Oklahoma for over 100 years. My dad has always had a large garden including tomato patches up to 1 acre in size. I can remember filling up entire pickup beds with tomatoes that we sold at the Garfield County Farmers Market. I used to loathe picking tomatoes as a teenager, but as soon as I had my own house I found myself planting a garden.

I've had my own garden since 2009 and plan to use this page to help sell my vegetables at the Piedmont Farmers Market.

The first yellow squash of the year is growing. Apparently it pollinated under the netting with no problem.

Only a few days left in April and the onions and potatoes are hitting their stride. Everything is in the ground now.

Squash and Zucchini are under their netting to protect from squash vine borers and squash bugs. Tomatoes in the hoop house are 4 feet tall and flowering, with a few tomatoes actually set. We could really use a good rain.
