This is Becky Brett . We know each other from Orange Lotus Yoga Studio where we regularly sweat our way through Inferno Pilates classes together.
There were a lot of things I imagined myself doing when I grew up. Farming was definitely not one of them. 😆
Becky, on the other hand, is an absolute rockstar. She owns Toad Stop Farm and started it just four years ago. Since then, she has built a thriving CSA, sells at Kimberton Whole Foods and several farmers markets, and somehow manages to do it all herself.
This morning I picked up some beautiful zucchini from her farm, and later this week I'll be picking up an incredible lettuce variety called Tropicana to use in the salad jars we're making for Saturday.
I have so much respect for people who grow food. It's hard work, long hours, and a constant battle with things completely outside your control. Yet somehow Becky keeps producing beautiful vegetables week after week.
Buying food directly from the person who planted it, weeded it, harvested it, and cared for it just feels different.
Those salad jars are going to be about as fresh as fresh gets. 🥬🥒🌱
