Each fall, we’re fortunate to welcome so many school field trips to Country Kids, including our friends from Waltham School.

Last year, during one of those visits, we realized we had forgotten something to cut open a pumpkin for our demonstration. So, naturally, we improvised and smashed one instead.

What we didn’t realize was that one little girl decided to save some of the seeds from that pumpkin, tuck them into her jean pockets, take them home, and plant them herself.

And she stuck with it.

Those little pumpkin seeds she carried home from a field trip last fall became the pumpkins you see today.

There is something pretty special about the way kids can take one small moment, hold onto it, and turn it into something all their own. We love knowing that a funny little mishap during one of our field trips inspired her to grow pumpkins of her own.

Sometimes the smallest seeds really do grow into the best stories. 🎃
