We completely understand ongoing frustrations and worries about the price of food and produce.

That said, we want to be transparent about how much work goes into our strawberry fields. These crops really are a year-round labor of love for us at Rulfs!

๐Ÿ’ช Every fall, we have to cover the strawberry crop before winter so the plants won't die during the harsh cold of our long winters. This involves the hard work of spreading straw throughout acres and acres of plants, and then covering them with plastic.

๐Ÿ’ช In the spring, everything gets uncovered, but there's always the chance of a late frost that can kill the plants. If the weather calls for a late frost, our guys will stay up all night driving heaters around the fields to keep them from freezing.

๐Ÿ’ช We have water wheels and irrigation pumps that run around the clock from spring to late summer to keep the strawberry fields hydrated and healthy. If there's a drought, they run extra hard to cope.

๐Ÿ’ช Strawberry plants have to be changed out every few years, too, so our crew will spend time working on that when needed.

We've added some pics to this post (and videos are on our Instagram post!) to help illustrate how much hard work goes into these little plants. We truly love offering these berries to you, and we love seeing you all in the fields! We hope you understand why we make the tough decision to choose the prices that we do every year.
