Memorial Day is a shared bond that every American carries, no matter where we come from or what path we walk in life.

Across this Country today, families gather, flags wave proudly, and communities come together for one reason — to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives for the Freedoms we enjoy every single day. It is because of their sacrifice that we are able to raise our families in peace, speak freely, worship freely, and live under the protection of the GREATEST nation on earth.

Memorial Day reminds us that freedom was never free. WE MUST REMEMBER. It was secured by ordinary Americans who displayed extraordinary courage, putting love of country above themselves. Their sacrifice created a bond that unites all of us — a bond of gratitude, remembrance, and respect.

And as we reflect on their sacrifice, we should also remember this truth: hatred corrodes the container that it’s carried in. The men and women we honor today fought for a nation built on unity, hope, and shared purpose. The best way we can honor their memory is by treating one another with dignity, appreciating the freedoms we share, and never forgetting the cost at which they came.

Today, may we stand together as Americans — grateful, humbled, and forever indebted to our fallen heroes.

May God bless those who gave everything for this Country, and may God bless the United States of America.

Join us this Memorial Day at American Legion Freedom Post 183 in Pemberville as we honor the brave men and women who gave everything for our freedom.

Beginning at 10:00am:
🇺🇸 Posting of the 17 Flags for the Freedom Township KIA
🎶 Music by the Eastwood High School Marching Band
🪖 Reading of over 300 names for the Hometown Heroes Walk in Memorial Park
✈️ Special flyover by the 180th Fighter Wing Air National Guard

🍗 Sons of the American Legion Chicken BBQ to follow.

Take time this Memorial Day to remember the sacrifices made by generations of American heroes. We hope to see the community come together for this meaningful tradition.
