First time this has happened…. Our farmstand is traditionally honor system for our fruits, veggies and eggs. We accept cash and Venmo. We came up short on money today and all our produce was mostly “sold out.” Hoping that someone possibly forgot to send a Venmo or it just didn’t come through, but sadly I don’t think that’s what happened here considering I had one bag of lettuce left and $6 left in the money jar that started with $11 and produce that is gone that isn’t reflected with some sort of payment. Our customers are so wonderful to us. I’m guessing the people who took the food did actually pay as someone even left us egg cartons. Most likely someone just came and took the cash out of our money bin. It makes me very sad because I just said to a customer two days ago how this hasn’t been a problem for us. Again hoping this is an honest mistake, but if it isn’t just know that I wake up at 6am to go to the garden and work before my 4 children ages 11 and under wake up. I was away today volunteering my time coaching 3 different softball/soccer teams for my children. It’s not the loss of money that hurts the most, but the loss of my time and effort that I put into this farm and offering healthy homegrown food to our local community. Thank you to those that continue to support us and we hope this is a unique situation that doesn’t happen again.
