Memorial Day Facts
* In 1868, John A. Logan, Commander-in-Chief of the Grand Army of Republic, chose May 30th as the official day to honor fallen Union soldiers across the nation by decorating their graves.
* It was originally known as Decoration Day.
* Until 1970 Decoration Day was celebrated on May 30th.
* In 1971, under President Richard Nixon, it became a Federal holiday, officially titled Memorial Day, and given an observation date of the last Monday in May.
* Although Memorial Day began as a way to honor those who died in the Civil War, it has become a day to honor all veterans whose lives were sacrificed in service to our country.

** Re: Appalachian festival in New Richmond, Ohio this weekend **

Unfortunately, although our vendor application was submitted months ago, a response was never received.
Fast forward to today… and we find out (and not from the festival) that we are a listed vendor.

Unfortunately, with less than 24-hour notice, we will not be in attendance.

HOWEVER… right there on Front Street is
East Side Boutique who carries all of our products as well as a wonderful assortment of other great finds!

Although we’ve always shipped to those who’ve requested, the added customer cost was steep, deterring us from advertising the option.

Damon has a new shipping go-to and we tested it on our last two delivery requests. Customer cost went down and products were reported as arriving without incident.
