🦦 The Healthy Otter Vendor Spotlight! πŸƒ

Hello! My name is Brenda Scheidecker. I grew up in Detroit Lakes, moved to New York Mills when I met and then married Shane (20 years). We had two beautiful daughters (Ellie-18 and Teran-16).

I have lots of plants and I love nature! I also love buying/selling antiques and collectibles, which has been passed down from my mom, Linda, and my grandma, Leone.

When Shane and I had Ellie, I wanted to do something that would allow me to be a stay-at-home mom while doing something that I love. A friend of ours, (Lisa Alberts, another vendor at The Healthy Otter) had her salon on Main Street in New York Mills and was building her new shop. Lisa had a year left in her lease there, so I talked with my mom about taking over the lease and opened up a store there to try it out. My mom already had the business name (The Cat’s Pajamas) from selling online and having a booth at Sulaines Antique Mall in Detroit Lakes, which my parents and I became owners of in 2012. When the lease was coming to an end, Shane had suggested that I move the store to an outbuilding on our property. I have been doing this ever since then (almost 19 years now) and I still love the thrill of finding unique and rare items and believe that things with purpose deserve a second chance rather than being thrown away. There’s nothing better than finding a special treasure and giving it a new home!

I am so excited for Krista and her store and grateful that she invited me to be a part of it!!

πŸƒ The Healthy Otter 🦦 Vendor Spotlight!

Hi!

I'm Dinee Dykhoff and one of my favorite things is jewelry! I have current and past pieces avaliable at THE HEALTHY OTTER.

I live in Bluffton with my husband Gordy of 23 years. We have 3 children Rowland (22), Dixie (20) and Hazel (almost 17). We live in the country and have chickens (Just found out that one of our hens hatched out 10 babies.), 3 cats (Ray, Moonshine, Cosmo... all of these names were based on our beloved Sunshine who was with us 21 years.), Nova (She is a golden retriever.), and Bugs (You guessed it a bunny, a mini lop, but not that mini.).

I grew up on a large farm in New York Mills and am the youngest of 10 children. We have raise sheep (Dew Drop Farms), we have also raised dairy cows, beef, pigs and chickens. After college I became a teacher and have taught full time in 3 towns (Karlstad, Sebeka, and New York Mills). We belong to Trinity Lutheran Church in NYM.

Besides loving jewelry I enjoy watching and playing sports, days at the lake, fishing, walking, reading, playing bingo, traveling, and taking care of the Earth. We're also active in FFA (I'm now the assistant advisor) and 4-H.

I've known Krista for a long time and was blessed to work at the school with her dad and sister. I love the Ottertail area and am glad to be here and shop here such a great variety!!

Meet Donna Hale!!

Hello, I'm Donna Hale
A retired bookkeeper, originally from the Brainerd Lakes area. I have called Ottertail "home" for over 15 years. Have always been busy with some sort of crafting or sewing projects.

What started out as a maybe once a month get together with gals from work turned into a past time for me. I've been making greeting cards for family & friends since the 80s. So for awhile. I'm enjoying the special orders that are now also on my list.

Pretty excited & nervous to have my cards selling in the Healthy Otter. Seasonal cards will be available. So many ideas! "Hello from Ottertail " (with the Otter) cards are so fun!

Summertime keeps me busy with my flower gardens, garage sales, thrifting, estate sales & antique stores. Of course, they all involve road trips!

Wintertime is mostly crafting, baking catching up on projects & reading.

I have recently adopted a rescue kitty named Dexter. He's had a big adjustment but doing amazing.
FYI: All my cards are First Class mailing friendly. They do not require extra postage or "Hand Stamp".
