**New vendor alert** Sugar sugar, ah honey honey 🍯. Zany Farm will be in the Ossining Farmers Market for the first time this Saturday, May 30th!

Zany Farm's wildflower honey is harvested from 150 hives across 10 apiaries in Orange County, NY, in the heart of the Hudson Valley. Each jar reflects the diverse landscapes and seasonal blooms of the region. They harvest and separate their honey seasonally, allowing natural changes in color and flavor to shine through — from light spring florals to deep, late-season wildflowers. Zany Farm's honey comes in plain, flavored, whipped, and honey sticks.

Happy Earth Day from Down to Earth Markets 🌱🌎.

Go green by shopping green at the farmers market! Help make Earth Day everyday while supporting local agriculture and food producers:

🚜 Locally grown food requires less food miles and refrigeration as it comes directly to the market from nearby farms.
🌞 Eating in season uses less fertilizer and other chemical inputs as seasonal production relies heavily on natural resources like sun and rain.
🐄 Farm animals are humanely pasture-raised which helps regenerate soil. They enjoy access to fresh air, sunshine and exercise.
🍅 Local, seasonal food tastes delicious and is better for you. Fruits and veggies are harvested at prime ripeness which is when their nutrient content peaks.
🛍️ Food is sold in minimal to no plastic packaging. Shoppers are required to bring their reusable shopping totes.
🧱 Open air, outdoor shopping eliminates energy emissions from brick & mortar grocery stores' heating, cooling, lighting and ventilation.

Ramps and fiddleheads galore were finally spotted in Down to Earth's farmers markets this past weekend! 🌿🌱 The start of the season for these foraged treasures was delayed this year due to late snowstorms and cold weather.

These early spring staples are only available for a few short weeks each year, so stop by your local farmers market this weekend to scoop them up while they last!

The sun is out and the work has begun on ! Farmer Pablo Jr. is out in the fields taking full advantage of the nice weather. He's currently prepping their flower fields with the disc harrow, transforming large clumps into fine soil. This is essential to boost crop growth and prevent the emergence of new weeds.

As they wait for their spring flowers to continue growing, they're staying one step ahead by preparing the soil for the upcoming seasons. They can't wait to show you what's blooming next 💐.

You can find Luna Family Farm and their colorful bouquets of locally grown flowers in our Morningside Park Farmers Market every Saturday from 9am-2pm.

Down to Earth Markets strives hard every day to be the change we want to see in the world, but we don’t do it alone. Our vendors, shoppers, employees, and community partners are vital linchpins in our ‘B shaped’ wheel. Our B Corp™ certification represents what we’ve achieved together — and we’re just one of thousands of companies around the world who are united by the B.

is a celebration of this powerful movement to make business work better for everyone. We’re proud of how far we’ve come as a company, and even more excited about where we’re headed together as a community.

Down to Earth Markets is celebrating B Corp Month, an annual event that takes place every March. Certified B Corps are companies that demonstrate high standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability. To achieve certification, Down to Earth Markets must undergo a rigorous third-party assessment and verification process every three years. During B Corp Month, we invite you to follow along as we share a post each week illustrating how we are meeting (and hopefully exceeding!) our B Corp commitments by making a positive impact.

B Corps™ have been building a movement for 20 years, yet we always look forward. The new standards for B Corp certification mean we have to be more specific about our tangible actions toward social and environmental benefit — and we have to demonstrate 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 going forward.

Some of these commitments are part of our everyday work. Some represent big changes. These are standards worth standing for.

• 𝐃𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞: We consider the impact on our community, employees and the environment with every business decision that we make.
• 𝐃𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐎𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲: We actively seek out early-stage farms and food producers to give them a marketplace entry point to help jumpstart their businesses.
• 𝐃𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩: We believe that seasonal, local food is a vital part of our heritage that ensures the health of our communities and environment.

This one’s for all the pickle people and sourdough lovers out there. What better combo is there than a thick slice of freshly baked olive 🫒 sourdough spread with a heavy schmear of pickle 🥒 cream cheese?! Yum.

No company is perfect. But Down to Earth Markets works hard to improve our social and environmental impact year over year. That’s what being a Certified B Corporation™ represents to us: the spirit of continuous improvement.

• Since its founding in 1991, Down to Earth Markets has seeded Westchester, Rockland and New York City with farmers markets to form a robust network of markets providing local, seasonal food to a diversity of downstate New York communities.
• Our farms and vendors are located within a 150-mile radius of the farmers market to ensure their products are grown and produced locally and to minimize the environmental impacts of food refrigeration and transportation.
• We accept a range of food benefit programs in our farmers markets to make the farmers market accessible to community members of all incomes.
• We host textile recycling in our markets and, where possible, food waste drop-off for composting.
• Down to Earth Markets employees participate in an annual volunteer day with non-profits based in communities in which we operate.
• We offer free space in our farmers markets to local organizations in order to maintain real connections with the communities we serve.

Down to Earth Markets has been closely guided by its mission to bring about meaningful change in the way we farm, grow, produce, process, distribute and eat food since Miriam Haas founded the company in 1991. We envision a strong regional food system, built by independent farms and food businesses, that provides everyone with an alternative to industrial food. We believe that seasonal, local food is a vital part of our heritage that ensures the health of our communities and environment.

Down to Earth Markets connects cooks and eaters with regional farms and food producers through community farmers markets. In doing so, we honor a timeless form of commerce: local, community-scale businesses selling neighbor to neighbor.

Our mission is to:

• Create economic opportunities for local farmers, processors, and consumers to trade with one another for mutual benefit;
• Celebrate our food culture together to enhance community life; and
• Cultivate knowledge, awareness, and practices among consumers and producers to care for the environment and build the local food economy.

Our B Corp™ certification is a badge of honor, because it shows that we have made measurable social and environmental progress towards these ideals — all while living our values. And with the new standards for B Corp Certification, we’re committed to continuous improvement.
