Our Story

For 2019, there is no stand-alone Oneida City Farmers Market. Instead, there are two other options for vendors and shoppers in Oneida, NY. Oneida’s City Center Market which operates on THURSDAYS from 5 PM to 8 PM at Higginbotham Park in Oneida, NY (Broad Street & Farrier Ave). This market is operated by The Oneida City Center Committee. The posted schedule for 2019 will be 13 weeks, running June 6th, 2019 until August 29, 2019. Cottage Lawn Farmers Market operates at the Madison County Historical Society (435 Main Street, Oneida, NY) on TUESDAYS from 3 PM to 7 PM. The posted schedule for 2019 runs from May 28, 2019 until August 27, 2019. For more information about both of these markets, please go to their FaceBook pages or their websites for official information. Commentary: While both of these markets are great opportunities for buying and selling in the summer, they both end right at the prime time for the majority of homegrown New York State fruits and vegetables. In our opinion, this is a huge missed opportunity. Many other farmers markets in other locations keep operating thru the month of October giving farmer vendors a true full season to reap the rewards of their work. Being that these two markets end so early, shoppers are forced to travel to other locations to obtain local, homegrown fruits and vegetables from September onward. Perhaps these markets could increase their appeal to potential farmer vendors if they extended their schedules by as much as 12 more weeks. ============================================================== This page is currently devoted to promotion of Farmers Markets, farm stands, and farm-based businesses in Oneida and Madison Counties of New York State.
