What a week! ❤️🐮

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who came out, cheered Lane on, checked in on him and John, and supported him throughout the fair.

The time, hard work, early mornings, late nights, and everything that goes into showing a steer are a lot—but having such an amazing group of family and friends behind him makes it all worth it.

We’re incredibly proud of Lane and the way he worked with John, and we’re even more grateful for the people who continue to encourage him, teach him, and cheer him on.

Thank you for being part of Lane’s journey. We truly couldn’t do it without you! ❤️

☀️🐄 Fair week + excessive heat = extra care.

When the temperatures climb, the job doesn’t stop at getting our animals ready for the show ring. It means paying extra attention to the little things—keeping John hydrated, cool, comfortable, and checking on him often.

A cool drink of water (and sometimes a little extra help getting it on him 😉) goes a long way on a hot fair day.

The ribbons are fun, but taking care of the animal always comes first. ❤️

Stay cool out there, and give those livestock exhibitors a little extra grace this week. It’s HOT in those barns! 🥵🐄

🎡🐄 Fair Week is here! 🐄🎡

There’s just something special about the start of fair week—the trailers rolling in, barns coming to life, kids getting their animals settled, and all the excitement that comes with a week of hard work, memories, and a little bit of friendly competition.

Today, we moved Lane’s steer John into the fair barn and officially kicked off fair week! John has come a long way, and we’re excited to see how he does.

For us, the fair is about more than showing cattle. It’s about teaching kids responsibility, celebrating agriculture, supporting our community, and watching all that hard work come together.

Here’s to a great week at the fair! ❤️🤍💙

Good luck to all the exhibitors—we’ll see you at the barn! 🐄🎡

There’s always a welcoming committee waiting at the fence. 🐮

Whether they’re looking for breakfast, checking to see who’s coming, or just being nosey, they never miss a chance to say hello. Life on the farm is full of simple moments like this that make all the hard work worthwhile.

Moooove over, it’s Cow Appreciation Day! 🐮

Meet John and Bolt — inseparable since day one.

Did you know cows form real friendships, just like people? They pick a best buddy and stick close🐄🤎

These two prove it every single day — eating together, resting together, and yes, occasionally getting into trouble together. Bolt is the ringleader.

Happy Cow Day to these big, sweet babies. Who will always hold a special bond and place in our hearts.

Who’s your favorite “duo” on the farm? Tag a friend you’re inseparable with. 👇

Some kids came home from baseball practice to a new video game…ours came home to a fresh load of steers. ⚾🐂

While Lane was at his scrimmage, the newest members of the herd rolled into Cedar Mill Farm. The first thing he wanted to do when he got home—still in his baseball uniform—was head straight to the barn to check them out.

Around here, baseball and farming go hand in hand. We hustle on the field, then hustle back to the farm. We wouldn’t have it any other way.

Welcome to the farm, boys! Here’s to healthy cattle, a great baseball season, and making memories that only farm kids get to experience. 🌾❤️

❤️ So God Made a Farm Kid
On the eighth day,
after the sky was stretched wide
and the dirt was packed firm beneath steady hands,
God looked down at the open fields and said,

“I need someone
who won’t be afraid of hard.”

So God made a farm kid.

He needed someone
who would wake before the sun
without being asked twice,
who knew that frost on the ground
wasn’t an excuse
but a warning to move faster.

So God made a farm kid.

He needed someone
small enough to fit between fence posts, brave enough to step into a pen
with something twice their size,
and soft enough
to whisper to a nervous calf
like it was their own.

So God made a farm kid.

Someone who would learn
that chores come before comfort,
that animals eat before you do,
that weather does not care about your plans.

Someone who understands
that work is not punishment.
It’s privilege.

So God made a farm kid.

He needed a child
who would grow up knowing
that life and loss
live in the same pasture.
Who would bottle feed the weak one,
bury the broken one,
and still show up tomorrow.

So God made a farm kid.

Someone who could drive a tractor
before they could drive a car.
Who smells like hay and diesel.
Who carries grain buckets
like other kids carry backpacks.

Someone who learns early
that money doesn’t grow on trees
but responsibility does.

So God made a farm kid.

He needed someone
who finds peace in fence lines,
who measures seasons by calving and harvest, who knows the sound of rain in a tin roof is better than any lullaby.

Someone who will leave sometimes,
chase a dream,
try a different life...
but always feel their heart
pull back toward the barn.

So God made a farm kid.

Not because it would be easy.
Not because it would be glamorous.

But because the world will always need
steady hands,
strong backs,
soft hearts,
and people who understand
that freedom tastes better
when you’ve worked for it.

So God made a farm kid.

And somewhere in a barn aisle,
under dust floating through morning light, stands that kid...
older now, maybe tired,
but still grateful...

Because being raised by land and livestock, doesn’t just build character.

It builds legacy. ❤️

🎄🎅 Christmas Hat Day, farm-style! 🚜🎄

Lane and I got a little creative and turned an old Mercer Landmark, Inc. hat into a one-of-a-kind farm Christmas hat — because that’s just how we roll around here.

These are the moments we love most: making memories, using what we have, and adding a little farm personality to everyday traditions and school spirit days. This one definitely made us smile ❤️🌾
