Quality Deer Management Ridgeville Cooperative

Quality Deer Management Ridgeville Cooperative Our Quality Deer Management Cooperative includes parts of Ridgeville, Tomah, Wilton and Adrian Townships. Where do we start?

We are a group of landowners and hunters working together to improve the quality of our deer herd, deer/wildlife habitat and the overall hunting experiences on our collective acreage. A QDM Cooperative is a group of landowners and hunters working together to improve the quality of the deer, habitat and hunting experiences on their collective acreage. None of us in the area own enough land to conta

in a single Whitetail's movements, let alone multiple deer or even an entire population. Our QDM Cooperative allows us to pool our lands to have a much larger impact on our deer herd. There is no cost to become a member and it's strictly volunteer. Hunters must be able to harvest the appropriate number of does to control the growth of the herd. Currently, we are doing a good job of this in our area. Hunters must also have the self-discipline to pass up opportunities to shoot deer that do not meet our QDM Coop criteria. Buck fawns (aka Nubbin or Button Bucks), yearling (1.5 yr olds) bucks and 2.5 yr old bucks are protected and should not be harvested. For many hunters this is the hard part, representing a change in philosophy as young bucks are now passed and not harvested.
