On Tuesday, February 24, the Warren County Board of Supervisors Public Works Committee will host a virtual presentation from Bob Gedert, former President of the National Recycling Coalition and solid waste manager for numerous municipalities, to discuss potential recycling system options. The meeting starts at 9:15 a.m.
Mr. Gedert has led the development of local infrastructure and financially self-sustaining recycling systems that reduced disposal by as much as 75% in large U.S. communities. In this presentation, he will discuss how municipalities have approached:
โ๏ธ Building local recycling infrastructure to reduce long-term disposal dependence
โ๏ธ Managing recycling market volatility and improving revenue stability
โ๏ธ Designing programs that aim to be financially self-supporting
โ๏ธ Phasing in pilot projects before making major capital commitments
โ๏ธ Evaluating operational and overhead considerations
โ๏ธ Engaging residents and stakeholders through effective community outreach and public events
This presentation is intended to provide real-world examples of how communities have strengthened recycling performance while maintaining fiscal and operational responsibility.
Warren County is currently evaluating options for improving its recycling system. No decisions have been made. This presentation is part of an information-gathering process to determine what may be feasible, practical, and financially responsible for our region.
The presentation will be livestreamed and videoarchived. The link to watch remotely is available here:https://www.youtube.com/.
