Gone but not forgotten!!

Yesterday, Troopers paid their respects to fallen Trooper Pilot Allen Nieland #445, who died in the line of duty on October 14, 1990.

Allen Nieland was a native of Carroll, Iowa. He joined the National Guard after high school and went on to attend college. In 1981, he graduated from the 9th DPS Basic Academy and went on to serve as Capitol Police before going to the road in 1982.

Trooper Nieland was an active member in his church, serving as church elder, member of the choir, and a Sunday school teacher. He was remembered for being easygoing, funny, and loving golf.

Trooper Pilot Allen Nieland was 41 years old when he died, leaving behind a wife, two sons, and two daughters.
