I just received this update about SNAP. Please read if you are a SNAP recipient Our market will be accepting SNAP / Double Up cards this season

Adults may now need to meet new work requirements for food assistance to keep their benefits. This affects people ages 18 - 64 who are not currently working at least 20 hours/week (or 80 hours/month) and do not meet an exemption. If you do not meet the requirements or meet an exemption, your SNAP benefits may be limited to three months every three years.

This does not mean your benefits will stop. Many exemptions exist for people living in certain areas, people living with children, caregivers, those with health issues, and more. But you may need to take action.

These new requirements (known as Time Limited Food Assistance, or TLFA) are more detailed than the general work requirements. Not everyone who meets an exemption under general work requirements will meet exemptions for TLFA.

๐Ÿ“ž Call your local MDHHS office today to see if you meet an exemption: 1-844-464-3447

Good chilly afternoon. A couple of weeks ago I posted an announcement regarding a great opportunity for the young entrepreneurs in our county. We only have spots available and we currently have half filled. If you or a someone you know really wants to start a small business this market is a perfect way to get started. Students need to be from 9-19 to be able to participate There will be over 100 people shopping at this event.
PM me if you have any questions or would like an application

We are also taking applications for vendors and food trucks for the 2026 Newaygo Market Season starting in June.

Good Thursday afternoon! I hope everyone is enjoying this unseasonably warm day. For me it gives me hope that Spring is right around the corner :)
I wanted to reach out to our market community in search of young entrepreneurs that would like to showcase their products/business. In May the CEC will be hosting it's 2 day conference here in Newaygo County and they have asked me to put together a young entrepreneur market on Thursday, May 28 from 5:30-7:00 in downtown Newaygo. I am limited to only 20 entrepreneurs and the age range is 9-19 years old. If you or someone you know would be interested please reach out to me by PM and I will get you the forms to fill out. The cost is free. There will be over 100 people attending the conference.
We will be doing all the marketing for the event in conjunction with the CEC and a booklet will be provided to all the participants that describe each entrepreneur's business.
This is a great opportunity for young entrepreneurs who are trying to get their business discovered.
Please reach out if you have questions or would like a link for the application.

Good Friday morning! I just wanted to remind everyone that the Newaygo Farmers Market has closed for the 2025 season. We hope to see all of you back at Brooks Park next June. Have a safe and adventuresome fall/winter.
Another reminder to you, even though our market is closed for the season please continue to support all local farmers markets. Farmers need you!

Happy Monday! The weather has been amazing and I hope you all have the opportunity to get out and enjoy it.
As many of you have read from previous posts, last Friday was the end of the 2025 market season. Some of the people who came through asked way so soon and believe me it's not because we really want to! I mean there are more fruits to sell, pumpkins, fall squash and more BUT to have the market the vendors need customers. After Labor Day the amount of customers drops by 75 percent which is tough on the farmers/vendors so that is the reason we close the market the second week of September.
Speaking of all our amazing farmers/vendors I want to personally thank them for participating for one week or the entire season! If you see any of these fantastic people thank them for participating in your local Newaygo Farmers Market.

There is no way the Newaygo Farmers Market could survive for 6 years without all of our customers. Some find us by happenstance, some are weekly shoppers and there are some who are traveling though town and stop to check us out. We so appreciate all of your continued support! Each season brings challenges but also excitement of getting back together and seeing everyone.

Thank you again to all the amazing vendors/farmers and customers. Stay safe through the rest of the year and we hope to see you all next season :)

Happy Friday! Today is bitter sweet for me because it's the last day for the Newaygo Farmers Market 2025 season but it's also Friday and I get to see/visit with our amazing customers!!!

As a market manager for the last 5 years I have seen vendors participate in our market and share their dream of having a store front. Some have dropped from the market and are still working on their dream, others have stayed with the market and developed their base as well as really honing in on their craft. Staci from Simply Rustic Dough is one of those vendors. She had a dream and is working every week to make her dream come true. You will find Staci's breads in local restaurants (the NOTT) or at different Pop Up's like Schwalliers Country Basket on Alpine. Congrats to Staci at Simply Rustic Dough for her continues success!

Don't worry about loosing out on your chances for happy chicken, duck and quail eggs through the fall and winter because Tina at Locust Lane has you covered. Check in with her today about ways to get eggs after the market has ended for the season.

When you come to the market on this beautiful Friday, you will find the market has moved in the park a bit farther towards Quarterline St.
