It’s been two weeks since we wrapped up the 70th Flaherty Seminar in NYC—and we’re so incredibly grateful to over 1500 people who joined us in person, online, or through our global pods and gatherings!

To all our artists, programmers and programming collaborators—it was an honor to engage and imagine with each of you.

To our pod managers—thank you for creating spaces for radical dialogue with so much heart.

And finally, to our wonderful team—thank you for all your work, care, and energy in bringing Onward! to life. ✨

Our morning began with our fellows screening and discussion at !

Public Program 3 screening at the was followed by intimate breakout conversations, before our discussion with Prgrammer Carlos A. Gutiérrez and Programming collaborator Zaina Bseiso.

We brought the day to a close with the screening of Public Program 4 and a wonderful conversation with Programmer Janaína Oliveira, Programming Collaborator Christopher Harris and the brilliant Cauleen Smith!

Thank you for joining us in NYC, our Global Pods, Gatherings, and for the Online Experience! We hope to see you today for the last day of the 70th Flaherty Seminar!

Our second public program at , followed by a discussion with Programmer Richard Herkowitz, Programming Collaborator Louis Massiah, and David Frank.

The program included THE BUS (by Haskell Wexler), POWER!, EYES ON THE PRIZE: PART II (by Louis Massiah, Terry Rockefeller), and an excerpt from THE SUMMER OF OUR DISCONTENT (Martin Luther King’s speech).

We're thrilled to announce that MoMA The Museum of Modern Art is marking 70 years of the Flaherty Seminar with a special film series curated by Sophie Cavoulacos. From June 19-25, 2025 the museum will showcase works from our rich exhibition history—including films programmed by legendary MoMA curators Willard Van D**e, Adrienne Mancia, William Sloan, Jytte Jensen, and Sally Berger.
On June 26, MoMA The Museum of Modern Art will host the opening night of ONWARD!, our 70th Flaherty Film Seminar—the first time we've ever held the seminar in New York City!
