John Sharp of Birdsall House and Gleason's Pizza, Pasta and Cocktails joined Deb Milone and shared a step-by-step process on how small businesses can apply for an SBA Economic Disaster Loan. If you couldn't watch it live, you can watch it at your convenience right here.

Thinking about Market Manager's. Thank you for all you're doing to continue providing healthy food to communities! This selfie was taken at the NY Market Manager's Conference the beginning of March. We weren't talking about social distancing and our biggest concern was the plastic bag ban.

These are the minimum cleaning protocols for leaving and entering your house. It's what I'm doing. Leave purse, keys, etc. in a box at the entrance. Spray and wipe everything including the bottoms of your shoes. Don't put shopping bags on kitchen counters or on the table where you eat. Wash your hands. I love you.

We know that not all of our customers are on Facebook, and with the deluge of information on your timeline you might have missed the post that the market has been suspended. I'm sitting here in an empty parking lot at one end of a 6-ft table with a box of bagged cookies we're giving away for free at the other end. My thanks to the many customers who've come by hoping that your market was open. My thanks to @Seth Greenbergs Just Desserts for the cookies and brownies. Hi! This is Corinna Makris, market manager of the Peekskill Farmers Market, and the Scarsdale Farmers Market. We're closed this week, but please visit these other Westchester Farmers Markets this weekend. This is the week that greens are really starting to come in, and there are still plenty of storage vegetables.

-Vendors are being placed several feet apart.
-Customers are being counted at the entrances with limited numbers allowed to enter.
-Your shopping time is also limited so check the websites for your favorite vendors. Make a shopping list!
-Contact vendors directly today and purchase online to limit the exchange of cash.
-Vendors are small business owners and they need your support.
-Buying every meal from a restaurant isn't financially feasible for most people.
-Stay 6 ft away from people.
-Wash your hands & don't touch your face!

Important Statement from the BID Peekskill - Business Improvement District on the Peekskill Farmers Market.
03/12/2020

Important Statement from the BID Peekskill - Business Improvement District on the Peekskill Farmers Market.

Statement from the Peekskill BID Regarding COVID-19 and the Peekskill Farmers Market

The health of our customers and vendors at the Farmers Market is important to us. The Peekskill BID continues to monitor the situation closely with regards to COVID-19 also known as Coronavirus.

The Farmers Market is currently scheduled to be open as planned, which for the remainder of the winter season is located indoors in the City of Peekskill’s Youth Bureau building at 828 Main Street from 10am to 2pm Saturdays.

The City has increased sanitizing of doorknobs, handrails and commonly touched areas in all city buildings. The Farmers Market is taking additional steps to increase the sanitation protocols which includes wiping down surfaces with sanitizing wipes. Hand sanitizer will be provided at the entrance to the market, and boxes of wax paper will be at the farm stands for you to use when choosing your fruit and vegetables.

Per the guidelines of the CDC and Westchester Department of Health, we ask that anyone that has flu-like symptoms or has been sent home from school or work to refrain from coming to the market.

We encourage you to be mindful that germs are carried through droplets released into the air when a person coughs or sneezes. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing, and throw the tissue away after use in a trash can or at home. If a tissue isn’t available, cough or sneeze into your elbow or sleeve, not your hands.

Those with compromised immune systems (everything from having a chronic illness to something as common as asthma), and the elderly, are at the highest risk. We encourage our patrons to follow guidelines from the CDC to help prevent the spread of disease:

• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
• Stay home when you are sick.
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a household cleaning spray or wipe.
• Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.

Our guidelines for farmers and anyone handling food:

• Use food-grade gloves and change them frequently.
• Wash hands frequently during the market day.
• Segregate job duties - touching foods and receiving payment.
• If sick or if you have any symptoms, stay home and send a replacement.

The CDC does not recommend the wearing of face masks by people who are healthy to prevent catching the disease.

The CDC does recommend wearing face masks if you show symptoms of the coronavirus or flu. If you are running a fever the CDC recommends that you wait at least 24-48 hours after the fever ends before returning to work.

We will continue to update you on policies as we receive updates from the Westchester Department of Health, and the State of NY.

We look forward to seeing you in downtown Peekskill.

Sincerely,
Brian Fassett
BID Board President

Our thanks and love and appreciation to the musicians who participated in the Elemental Events, LLC live music outdoor event in participation with Make Music New York at Tompkins Square Park this past Tuesday. This event takes place every year, in cities all over the world on June21, the Solstice.

How can we even begin to describe how amazing it was to hear the incomparable drummer and percussionist Amir Ziv playing his original compositions of percussion songs outside under a huge beautiful tree, a bright blue sky above? Do not miss an opportunity to hear him play live! His performance schedule and catalog of recordings are available at: http://systemdialingrecords.com/artist/amir-ziv/

Also, many thanks also to the uber talented Joy On Fire. I know, that you know, that I love this band. It's Klezmer meets Coltrane. Or something. Words fail to describe it but I love to dance to it. Anna Meadors on all the saxophones in the land, primary composer John Paul Carillo on electric bass, and Christopher Ozone on drums, rattles, bells, and whatnot. Their performance schedule and recordings: http://www.joyonfire.com/

Thank you also to the dedicated staff and volunteers at Make Music New York who work tirelessly all year to secure park permits, and organize more than 1,200 live performances happening around NYC all on one day. Standing ovation for all of you!

And thanks also to the groovy police officers of the 9th Precinct who strolled through, just to make sure we were legit and had our permits. They were totally cool, and even stayed for a while and dug the music. I love this crazy town.

Another amazing day! #mmny2016 #livemusicnycs #supportlocalmusicians
