Have you noticed how much our mood depends on what we see in the mirror? My hair was always my "thing"—my pride and joy. But after 40, something shifted. It became dull, brittle, and—worst of all—it was thinning out at an alarming rate.

I felt like I was losing a part of my femininity. I stopped taking photos and gave up on styling it altogether. I’d just shove it into a tight "mum bun" and get on with things, trying to avoid any shop window reflections.

My "Before" photo was taken on one of those days. I looked at it and realised I wasn't ready to just "settle" for this. I didn't want to just accept it as part of getting older.

The road to recovery was a long one. There were plenty of mistakes and a fair bit of money wasted on things that didn't work. But eventually, I found the information that changed everything. Let’s be honest: getting older is fine. I actually quite like my laughter lines—they tell a story. But when my hair started "aging," it felt like a personal crisis.

By the time I hit 43, my parting was starting to look like a dual carriageway. Every hair wash was an ordeal; I’d look at the drain and honestly have to fight back tears. I even started picking seats in cafes where the overhead lighting wasn’t too bright, just so people wouldn't notice how much of my scalp was peeking through.

You know that feeling when every morning starts with a sense of dread at the sight of your hairbrush? When you clean it out and realise there’s more hair in the brush than there is left on your head?

To be honest, six months ago, I was at my wits' end. I’m 42, and I always assumed that thinning hair was either down to genetics or just something that happens when you're much older. But the mirror didn't lie. My parting was getting wider, my ponytail felt like a shoelace, and my self-confidence was at an all-time low. I started wearing my hair up constantly, obsessively adjusting strands to hide the "thin bits," and feeling a pang of jealousy every time I saw someone with a thick, healthy mane.

I tried everything:

Expensive salon treatments (lasted about a week).

Old-fashioned DIY masks with onion and mustard (the smell lingered for a month, but the hair stayed the same).

Handfuls of vitamins (my skin liked them, but my hair didn't get the memo).

I’d almost resigned myself to the idea that it was just "my age" and there was nothing to be done. But then, I stumbled across an article that actually made sense. Un étudiant de l'American Columbia University s'est endormi pendant un cours de mathématiques, puis s'est réveillé au son de la voix des étudiants à la fin du cours, et il a découvert que le docteur avait écrit deux problèmes au tableau,

il s'est dit : "c'est un devoir" et les a recopié dans son livre pour les résoudre à la maison
Quand il a essayé, il a trouvé qu'ils étaient très difficiles...

Mais il a continué à essayer et à essayer et à aller à la bibliothèque, apportant des références et cherchant jusqu'à ce qu'il ne puisse à peine résoudre qu'un seul problème.

Et dans la conférence qui a suivi, il a remarqué que le docteur n'avait pas posé de questions sur le devoir !

Alors l'étudiant s'est levé et lui a demandé :

« Docteur, pourquoi n'avez-vous pas posé de questions sur le devoir de la conférence précédente ?

Le docteur a dit : « Le devoir ?...
Ce n'était pas un devoir.

Au contraire, je vous donnais des exemples de problèmes mathématiques que la science et les scientifiques n'ont pas pu résoudre !

L'étudiant a été étonné et a dit, "Mais j'ai résolu l'un d'eux en quatre papiers!"
La solution au problème a été enregistrée à l'Université de Columbia et était connue sous son nom.

Ce numéro avec ses quatre papiers est toujours présenté à l'université à ce jour
Cet étudiant a résolu le problème pour une raison... parce qu'il n'a pas entendu le professeur dire : « Personne n'a pu trouver sa solution.

Il s'est convaincu qu'il fallait le résoudre... Lorsqu'il a essayé de s'éloigner des effets de la frustration, il l'a résolu

N'écoute pas les gens qui te disent que tu ne peux pas 👌
