I’m quite sure campanula was the first cut flower I ever harvested my first year working with .flora. I had no idea how to harvest it. It’s not the easiest flower to grow but when done well you get these stems that are larger than life. This year’s crop is especially insane. The harvest window is fast and furious so who knows how long we’ll have them, but this week’s bouquets will be filled up with these beauties. So now is a good time to get out your tallest vase!

Find our flowers at our Farm Store (open Thursday 4-7 and Saturday 9-12) and the Saturday morning.

We’re open tonight 4-7pm and Saturday 9-12! Our flower abundance continues and we are in snapdragon heaven. Also - baby bottle lambs are making their debut at the Flower Farm this week! They’ll be hanging out in the corn crib and would love for you to pet them. Great food on the menu this week and more fresh local produce is in the Farm Store. We still have a lot of nice plant starts though we are beginning to sell out and run low on flower and vegetable varieties. There are still a lot of native plants and we’ll continue to have them for a few weeks.

We are getting eaten up by skeeters after all this much needed rain. Our housemade Bug Bite Balm takes the itch right out so we can get on with our day without the constant irritation. If you’re in the same boat, give these a try! Our Bug Bite Balm is made with yarrow, plantain, and calendula all grown organically on our farm and infused in organic sunflower oil. I made a batch with lavender and peppermint essential oil (green label) and unscented (white label).

You can order online or stop at our Farm Store to shop in person. May they take that darned itch away for you!

I am always very sad when the ranunculus stops flowering, but the sadness is soon forgotten because the snapdragons come in hot just afterwards. If I could only grow one flower it would be these. I just love them so much. Good thing we grew so many that I can have my fill and still have some to share with you 😉

Alright my friends, the abundance is real. We have a lot of gorgeous flowers to adorn your table or for you to gift to a graduate. This is the last week for ranunculus so don’t miss out on these beauties! We have so many good flower options to choose from at both our Farm Store and the Iowa City Farmer’s Market.

Food at the Flower Farm Saturday morning is going to be delicious. We have breakfast bagels with local asparagus, a rhubarb quinoa breakfast bowl made with our very own rhubarb, and the muffins are seriously so good (we got to taste test 😋). We’re always flipping pancakes and serving hot . It’s going to be sunny and warm and finally not windy so it’s a perfect morning to get some food and hang out on the patio.

Fresh veg is coming in! We have baby kale, radishes, mint, edible flowers from our farm; amazing lettuce from ; asparagus and rhubarb from Morning Glory (grown on site!), and carrots and potatoes from Onion Grove.

Our Plant Sale is still going strong though we are starting to sell out of some varieties. We have more options at our Farm Store but we are sending a nice selection of tomatoes, peppers, herbs, flowers, and native plants to Iowa City.

Today we sent out the first Flower CSA bouquets of the season! For the next 20 weeks we’ll be fancying up some very nice arrangements for CSA members. Our CSA bouquets have the first cuts of the best flowers in our fields and are mighty fine works of art if I say so myself.

You should join our CSA if:
🌸 You love having fresh flowers on your table regularly
🌸 You love gifting flowers to friends and family members
🌸 You want chemical-free flowers
🌸 You don’t always get to the farmer’s market or our Farm Store before we sell out of flowers

We have three pick-up locations:
Iowa City on Wednesdays
Cedar Rapids on Wednesdays
Mount Vernon on Thursdays

We are taking new members for our Full Season and June shares through next Sunday, May 24th only! After that the months of July, August, September, and our Dahlia Share will all be à la carte. Plus if you sign up before May 24th you’ll be entered to win a free bouquet bag so you can pick up your flowers in style.

After a busy weekend it feels so great to catch up on our own field work. We’ve been filling in our perennial fields and planting a lot of summer annuals. Pretty nice to see all these plants in the beds and out of the greenhouse! Now we have some extra space to pot up more plant starts for you 🌱😎

We sent out so many flower bouquets into the world today but I know some of you missed out. Lucky for you, we have more flowers ready for harvest and I’m going to restock some bouquets for you on Sunday morning. You can come to our Farm Store on Sunday from 10am-12pm to grab a bouquet. I’ll have both our $35 mixed bouquets and $20 ranunculus bunches available.

We’ll also have whole ready-to-eat Quiche Lorraine and Mediterranean Quiche for you to grab and go. This is not a full Farm Store / Plant Sale experience - just an opportunity for you to get your hands on some more flowers before the weekend is over!

For Sunday’s pop-up you can drive to the end of the gravel driveway and park near the Farm Store / the large red building.
