Been running hard.
Like a horse run hard and put up wet but, not yet put up.
Finally made it back up to the farm.
Quite, except for the crickets.
The air is cool and clean.
Hear a few clicks of rain trying on the tin roof.

Ah, anyway….
I did find some decent peaches this week. Cut them up and froze. Already got the habeneros.
Didn’t have time to make the preserves.
It’s coming.
It’ll get done, I’m wanting some glaze ribs or wings.

Somewhere between work, expanding the donkey shed and the rest of the mess.
One day at a time.
Keep the Faith and don’t let the BS distract you. ❤️

Been a bit quiet, still kicking.
Just spread thin these days.
Still have Homestead Calm, Chamomile, and Sweet mint teas available. Also loofah seeds.
I’ll be keyboard banging for the main job in League City this week if any one needs teas. Just shoot me a message and we’ll figure it out.
Gotta say, that Homestead Calm helps me keep my center of gravity by relaxing me in the evenings for a good sleep.
Haven’t gotten back on the elderberry tea blend, what we’ve done so far is good but, not quite there.
Still haven’t made a batch of elderberry tonic for us but that HAS to happen soon as cool weather and cootie season approaches.

Got the habaneros, haven’t found good peaches for the peach habanero preserves. I’ve made some (for myself) with frozen peaches and they decent but I have a hangup with using them for sale. I just want fresh for what we sell.

Cash and Butterscotch are doing well, gotta shift into hay mode this next weekend. The pasture is down as is normal this time of year. Figaro, the cat that wandered up about a year ago, is still living large hunting voles and living the country cat dream.

That’s it for now, just thought I’d say hey.

Not a lot to report, too many iron in the fire at once!
Day trip to peck away at the donkey barn expansion.
We’ll still got some more warm weather coming but this little snap added pressure to at least get the width expansion done even if the depth portion can’t be finished before the real stuff is here.
One day at at time…🔨

First growing season for sage wasn’t phenomenal but it was steady. Few plants died along the way but attribute that to unconditioned soil. Now that we’re getting some nutrients from decomposing leaves it’s getting better.

Time for a trimming to get that last bit of root growth for the season and hopefully with plenty of mulch and cover, they’ll winter ok. Hoping the stem cuttings can be rooted in water to get more plants going.
Had around a 50% success rate with that. Doing the right things, it sometimes just won’t produce roots.

You think dried sage from a can has a strong scent, the smell of fresh is a powerful thing. Some don’t care for it but I like it. 🌱❤️

We were gifted a bunch of Habaneros, Cayennes and Serranos. Went and bought some Jalapeños to add to the mix.
The first jar is our first attempt to do an actual fermented hot sauce. Other than making sure the weight of the peppers and water to salt ratio was correct, no measurements were taken on the pepper quantities and individual weights. Do didn’t care about that for the first try, just wanted a good blend of hot and hot. 🔥🤣
Might add some mango when blending the sauce. Everything I’ve read indicates if you add it to the fermenting peppers, the flavor disappears.
More to come on how that works out…

Second jar is just straight up pickled. They always turn out tasty and zippy.

Got tired of processing peppers but have a healthy amount of Habaneros left I’ll chop and vacuum pack for…Habanero Peach Preserves. Didn’t like the peaches I saw today. Nice size and color but hard as a rock.
Soon…🍑🌶️🔥❤️

Haven’t mentioned it in a minute but the blending for the new immunity boost tea is still in progress. It’s taken a few flavor/ingredient shifts.

The latest upcoming test to be tried this evening, fresh dried lemon zest.
Had tried a little fresh zest and liked the flavor addition.
We shall see…🌱☕️❤️

It’s not much but got a little done on the donkey shed expansion this morning. Another 4x4 set and some supports for the metal siding on posts that had cured.
