There are only a couple times a year I get sappy on here but this weekend is one of them!
I am overfilled with gratitude when I reflect on how this community shows up to support us. From an outside perspective, it might look like a few baked goods on a shelf but it is such a huge part of our life. My husband, Tyler and I both work full time jobs outside of our little side gigs. We take a chance on this Farmstand week to week not knowing what will come of it. And every weekend, people show up. Planning starts weeks in advance; I spend time each and every day prepping whatever I can. We have given up so much space in our house for ingredient/packaging storage. Late nights and early mornings happen more than I would like to admit. There are many Friday nights when I question it all. Then Saturday morning rolls around and people start to trickle in and I am instantly energized. Getting to be a tiny part of so many people’s lives is truly a blessing. I’ve had some moments stop me in my tracks to remind me that baked goods are more than just a sweet treat, they are a way to show love, gratitude, and empathy at times. Here are just a few of the situations I have been honored to be a part of:
“We lost a family member and my sister has had trouble eating. I am wanting to take her something I know she likes to try to get her to eat again”
“My family is in town helping me with a surgery and I want to buy them something to show my gratitude”
“My friend just had a baby and is struggling, could I get some cookies for her?”
“I’m going through a hard time and forgot to order a cake for my daughter’s birthday, could you make one for tomorrow?”
These are the moments that remind me why I continue to do this. There are so many of you that feel like family to us now. We read each and every comment you leave and take all feedback into consideration. We are not from this area and ended up here very randomly. It warms my heart to see the community show up, and especially means a lot when people from our hometowns make the drive to see us.
While this farmstand is a small part of your life, just know that it’s a huge part of ours and we are grateful for every visit you make, every comment or like, every person you refer to us, and the list goes on.
From our family to yours, thank you ❤️
