One Pot, One Delicious Dinner, and a Whole Lot Fewer Dishes!
Lately, I've been on a bit of a one-pot pasta kick, and I have to tell you, I'm loving it! There's something wonderfully satisfying about making an entire dinner in one pot. Especially when you realize you don't have to wash half the kitchen afterward. 😂
Last night's experiment was "One-Pot Beef Stroganoff", and it was absolutely delicious!
The beauty of one-pot pasta is that instead of boiling your noodles separately, you let them cook right in the pot with all those wonderful flavors. The pasta absorbs the broth as it cooks, creating a delicious, comforting meal with very little fuss.
Here's how I made mine:
🥩 Start with the beef.
I cut a chuck steak into small, bite-sized pieces, browned them in a large pot, and then removed them while I worked on the rest.
🍄 Build the flavor.
In the same pot, I sautéed sliced mushrooms and onions with a little butter until they were nice and soft.
🧄 Let those spices bloom!
I added salt, pepper, a little cumin, garlic powder, and onion powder. Here's a little kitchen trick: Let your spices warm up in the pan with the vegetables before adding your liquid. This helps release their flavors and adds another layer of deliciousness to your dish.
🍝Now for the one-pot magic!
I added the beef back into the pot, tossed in my uncooked pasta, added a splash of Worcestershire sauce, and poured in enough beef broth to cover the pasta.
I put the lid on, let everything simmer, and gave it an occasional stir until the pasta was tender and most of that flavorful broth had been absorbed.
🥄 The finishing touch!
Once the pasta was cooked, I stirred in a little sour cream to make everything creamy and delicious.
And just like that, dinner was served!
No separate pot of boiling water. No draining pasta. No complicated instructions. Just a hearty, homemade meal that tasted like I'd spent far more time making it than I actually did.
The best part? The pasta cooks right in all that beefy, mushroomy goodness instead of plain old water!
Have you tried making pasta this way? I'd love to hear what you've made! I'm always looking for another excuse to dirty fewer dishes and still put something delicious on the table.
Happy cooking! ❤️
