The Friendly Market is a family owned, community grown business located in the unique, coastal town of Morehead City, North Carolina. Owners Matt and Mindy Fitzpatrick have made their customers and community the focus of their ever changing small business. What began as a farmer’s market style endeavor on a vacant corner in 2008 has evolved into over 4 acres that house a storefront, produce area and full-service nursery. Our charming 6,000 square-foot building houses an incomparable selection of high-quality foods packaged to go as well as an area for fresh, local produce in season. The beautifully landscaped nursery offers North Carolina grown plants and locally sourced landscaping items. The nursery is open year round and our knowledgeable staff is at the ready to assist you with your gardening and landscaping needs. The Friendly Market is proud to partner with local growers and vendors in order to provide support for the immediate community as well as the state of North Carolina at large. We offer a welcoming atmosphere where our customers are treated like family. Our friendly, helpful staff is dedicated to making a trip to the Market an experience and not just a destination.

We’re also looking for seasonal Christmas Tree Helpers for our Nursery, starting the week of 11/15 and running until we sell out of trees.

This past weekend was one of the most meaningful in our Market’s history.

For five years, we’ve been part of the Fins & Feathers Fundraiser, which began in memory of Buddy McKeel and raises scholarship money for the children of first responders. From the very first year, our kitchen team has cooked all of the food for the event, with a new menu every time, and our team has given their time and hearts to it right alongside us. It has also been the biggest gift we give each year as the season wraps up, and being able to put that toward families who give so much to our community has been an honor.

This year, that meant even more, because our very own Matt Jr. took the stage as the keynote speaker. Buddy and Matt were best friends growing up, so this night was deeply personal for him. It was also the first time he has ever spoken in front of a crowd bigger than our Market Family, and you would never have known it. He was absolutely phenomenal. He spoke about his best friend with so much love, and the room gave him a standing ovation.

Matt, we are so proud of you, and Buddy would be too. Thank you to our amazing team for all of the prep work, planning and cooking that took place to make this meal happen. We start by pouring rich, homemade toffee over saltine crackers and baking them until the crackers soak up every drop. The moment it leaves the oven, we blanket it with chocolate chips, spreading them into a smooth layer before adding festive seasonal sprinkles. The best part?
