Stand up for Food Truck Freedom in Marshfield! Read, share, speak up!

Last night (6/25) council voted to suspend the ordinance so they can review it further. In other words food vendors can still sell at city parks where there is an event and they have been invited to. It is up to the person renting the park to tell the city who will be there.
They will review it more and make tweaks at a later time.
Thank you to everyone who has give us your support!!!

Update:
I received a call a little before the meeting tonight that the council heard from a lot of community members, and the council would be proposing we keep going at parks.
The emergency meeting that was held tonight was fantastic. The council listened to us. A new draft will be weittten and voted on next Tuesday where food vendors will be allowed on city property.

I need y’all’s help and it’s a big one. I’ve never ask for your help like this before, so you know it’s big.

The city of Marshfield is put a new ordinance in place on food vendors. And one of those rules is that unless it’s a city function, a food truck is not allowed to be there.
Meaning a food truck cannot be on any city property ie park, street, parking lot etc unless it’s a city sanctioned event like Hub City Days, Maple Fall Fest etc.
this is because there have been food vendors that do not have permits and or licenses and are coming into the city and parking to sell (which I agree is not cool). With that said, vendors that are legit are will suffer!
For example it would no longer be allowed for the Discovery Station to rent out Wenzel Plaza for a fundraising event and invite myself to be there, and Stone Press and a taco truck. Discovery can be there and have their event but a food vendor can no longer be there. Also, ones like organizations like MOPS has their fundraiser and invites myself or a truck like KamBray’s at Wildwood that would not be allowed as it’s not a city sanctioned event it was put on by a private party for the public. Many of us vendors do events like these and give
Proceeds to charity, this would no longer be possible, thus hurting the community.

This would also affect weddings, graduations and any other celebrations at any city park. You wouldn’t be able to hire any food truck to celebrate your event with your family.

If you’re like my family the first thing you look for at an event is food. Food bring everyone together. If there isn’t food someplace it just isn’t the same especially at an outdoor event. Not only that but these events help pay our bills and bring us out into the community more. This is a huge deal for us.

Nobody on the council came to any of the food vendors and asked for suggestions on solution ideas.

There is a simple solution to this.
Have those who want to book a food vendor supply the city with all the vendors permits, fire checks, health depts license, insurance etc to ensure it’s correct. Have a list with parks and rec who is vetted and approved. This would allow us to do events both public and private thus serving the community.

I ask for your help in telling the city council your feelings by sharing this post and sharing your thoughts on how ludicrous this is.

There is a council meeting on June 20th at 5pm and July 2nd at 6pm at city hall. If you can make it there that would be amazing. You don’t even have to speak, just be there in support. Show the council that you stand behind us. You want us there.

Thank you for all your support
